Salvete Consul Marce Cassi et alii

Thank you for clarifying that for me.

Please forgive me for this series of pesky questions. As a consolation, I
remind you that, in a short time, you'll be a privatus in a good position to
say "Beats the hell out me, Merulle! Why dont you go ask so-and-so or
whosie? They are consuls this year".

Are Eagles containing voter codes for Nova Roman citizens in European and
other non-U.S. countries going out by ground mail as well?

If so, will you be mailing from several different points throughout the
orbis terrarum?

I ask only because I am concerned that everyone receive a voter code on time
and have an opportunity to vote.

Valete

Salvete quirites!

I am the guilty party!
I posted some info on Roman underwear.
Here it is!

The strophium is the Roman brassiere. It is a band of soft linen 6" to
8" wide (or a folded wider strip), long enough to go around the body
at least twice. It can be worn in several ways, for example placing
the center of the band at the back and crossing the ends in front to
support the breasts, then wrapping the ends around and tucking them in
again. Evidence is scarce, however, and pins or ties may have been used.

While the tunica often served as an undergarment, there are also
references to the supparum, subucula, and (for matrons) indusium,
which may all be slip-like garments, hanging from the waist. Dancing
girls are shown wearing "bikini briefs", and a pair of woman's panties
made of leather have been found, but it is not known if these were
common items of apparel.

I hope that helps!

Salvete quirites et Ave candidati et magistrati!

At present I am attempting to teach myself some of the art of rhetoric
and oratory.
In the ancient republican days one of the main stages of learning
these arts was the tirocinium fori, a kind of apprenticeship served
with a leading orator.

As Tacitus wrote: ‘In the days of our ancestors, a young man who was
being prepared for the Forum or Oratory, after being trained at home
and thoroughly instructed in the liberal arts, was brought by his
father or relations to the leading orator at Rome. By following him
and frequenting his company he had the opportunity of listening to all
of his speeches in the law court or at public meetings; he could hear
him in argument or debate, and, so to speak, learn to fight by taking
part in the battle.’

This practice dates from the days when the professional teacher was
unknown and the father directed his son’s only education after which
he learned the ways of public life by personal association.

I was wondering if it would be possible for a citizen standing in the
upcoming elections to ‘take me under their wing’.
You would not have to do much, just supply me with copies of your
election speeches and the like.

Tibi gratias ago et valete!

LOL! Hardly... even though the governance of Nova Roma will be in new hands as
of the kalends of January, I'm not giving up my interest! Remember, I'll still
be Censor and in the Senate, which rather dooms me to paying attention. ;)

>Are Eagles containing voter codes for Nova Roman citizens in European and
other non-U.S. countries going out by ground mail as well?

Yes, they are. This actually poses a problem... some non U.S. Citizens may get
their voter codes very late. We may need to Email this info as well to those
Citizens. There was simply no way to do non US Citizens first as the codes had
to be generated all at once.

> If so, will you be mailing from several different points throughout the
orbis terrarum?

No, we'll be mailing everything from the U.S. Really no other way to do it.

> I ask only because I am concerned that everyone receive a voter code on time
and have an opportunity to vote.

Understandable. This has already been considered... generating a hard copy of
The Eagle and surface-mailing the voter codes has simply been the initial and
most basic step.

Very interesting...I have also heard of Romans washing their underwear
in urine to remove stains. Something to do with the acids acting as a
detergent.

Everything goes by snail mail. We thought of special sealed scrolls sent
through the Legions, but we lost the official NR seal.

No. We're mailing from the center of the Universe, the Umbilicum Orbis,
the exciting and sophisticated city that never sleeps, although it does
nod off a lot. You know: Scarborough, Maine.

Hmmm. >>

I dunno... Christian prophecy has been saying that the world would end since
the 1st Century CE. Literally every generation of Christians since the time of
the apostle Paul have considered themselves to be living in "the last days".
I can't even recall how many rulers, Popes and political figures have been
seen as the Antichrist from Revelations for instance, or how many alliances
have been seen as the formation of the One World Government.

For some reason humanity seems to have a common feeling that the present is
always worse than the past... even when that's completely untrue. The Romans
saw this as a change of ages from Gold, to Silver, to Iron or whatever.
Christianity has seen this as the coming end of the world - for centuries.

Marcus Cassius Julianus

Salus et Fortuna Omnes, Salvete Quirtes!

For Quaestor I endorse the Candidacies of Patricia Cassia, Marcus
Minucius Audens and (in all modesty) myself.

Patricia Cassia has in my opinion been a tireless worker for the benefit
of the People and Res Publica of Nova Roma. Information is often times
the most important asset we possess, Patricia Cassia has done well as
Defensor et Domina de Situs Araneum, which IS the major prescense of
Nova Roma today. I shall vote to continue her stewardship.

Audens, what is there to say: a man of deep conviction, honor, respect,
courtesy, experience. He is my Friend, which in my Religion is
tantamount to adopting him. I shall vote to add his talents to the
governance of Nova Roma.

For myself, I have no stirring words, no overwhelming reasons, save a
desire to see this Nation of Ours succeed. I thank you all for your
consideration and hope for more votes than mine own.

There are three Quaestorships, and three Candidates (of which I am
aware). Let not this deter you from thinking long and hard about your
vote.

Vote your Conscious and Intellect, for all of us, two of us, one or none
of us. But, the three of us shall work together and help establish a
continuing precedent for unselfish administrative work for the People
and Res Publica!
