Umm. Did he say pumpernickle or 7-grain?

He said things like this: "You are from beneath; I am

This is TRUE! I saw it on X-Files!

So did Jim Jones, I think. Take up your Kool-Aid and follow me, he said.

Not the kind you practice, I notice.

EEEEUUUWWWW! Is this a religious tract or a Stephen King short story?
And you shouldn't throw perfectly good parts away when you can get big
bucks for 'em on the Transplant Black Market. "Got any livers?" "Go

Actually, "Anglicans" ARE Catholic, technically. They were the English
branch of the Catholic Church back when Henry VIII(was it?) withdrew
recognition of the Pope as the head of the Church in England because the
Pope wouldn't grant him a divorce (and because all that Church property
in England looked really good to a bankrupt king). Even though several
hundred years have allowed them to drift apart in various details of
liturgy and doctrine, the Anglican sacraments are still recognized as
valid by the Church of Rome (with one exception I can't recall). The CoE
was never a part of the "Protestant Reformation" -- they broke away for
the sake of Henry's hormones rather than over any matters of religious
doctrine. :-)

That's why "High Anglican" services look so Catholic.

That's sweet. Unfortunatly, while my delete key works fine, I am still pretty
miffed at Marconis. It would be nice to have some way to screen incoming Nova
Roma members. Censorship?? Maybe, but what's to stop Marconis (or some other
psycho fundie, Christian or otherwise) from bringing in more and more like
him? Shall the Pagans simply convert now, or maybe we could just clean up the
mailing list by never mentioning anything that may offend then do the same
with the Taverna. No more sexual inuenos(although I may have missed the ones
that offended, or I just don't offend very well), no more kidding around -- we
stick to the facts, the history as it relates to Roma and Rome only. This way
no one is ever insulted. Then, it would be SO boring, I would unsub from the
list at least. This list is my entertainment. Oh well, go figure. I would
have to wait for the "uppers" to figure it out and make any adjustments. LOL
I should live so long!!

I just wanted to share some thoughts with friends here in Nova Roma
regarding the Season,
My views of the Holiday have always been pretty conservative during this
particular holiday, I had a pretty good childhood as a kid and grew up
pretty selfish and self-centered, until the Navy took all that away,
My first Christmas Eve, guarding a deserted pier, with a miserable barge
and broken ship moored thereto under the cold lights of the Walt Whitman
Bridge in a mediocre New Jersey Ciity across the Delaware River from
South Philadelphia.

Ave et Salvete
<G> Gee thanks for bringing these fond memories back :-)

>>

Then So Be It! Lucius Marconius Romanus has violated at least two articles of
our constitution on two accounts:

By first calling for a "return to moral standards" on a list that has always
been open to the freedom of expression and inserting his own personal
religious views as an authority.

And by his most recent post preaching his own religious views and condemming
in an adverse manner those of others not so inclined.

The articles I speak of:

Article I Sec. 2 which states Nova Roma's primary functions shall be to
promote the study and practice of the Ancient Roman Pagan Religion

Article VI Sec. 1 which states that , Citizens need not be practitioners
of the Religio Romano, BUT may not engage in any activity that
intentionally blasphemes or defames the Gods, the Religio Romana, or its
practitioners.

I hereby request the immediate dismissal of Lucius Marconius Romanus. If you
wish to follow traditional Roman law and expel me if after finding this
disruptor not guilty...Then so be it! I do not wish to remain in an
organization or on a list that tolerates in the least, or allows in the most,
such behaviour and hate.

I am not Consul until next week, which means that I cannot yet
convene the Senate for a vote, but I am Flamen Martialis, priest of the
guardian deity of Roma, and as such I pronounce Lucius Marconius Romanus,
'Sacer' to Mars.
Since we cannot actually sacrifice him under civil law for his
blasphemies, I will vote for the revocation of his citizenship when either
of the Consuls calls the Senate for a vote on this matter or in the New Year
when either I or my Co-consul proposes that he be Exiled for the following.
Which does violate Art. VI sec.1 of the Constitution.
1."Apparently you most believe that it is perfectly all right for to bash
Christianity, and at the same time too hell with those that show displeasure
in your conglomeration of myths and folk tales which you have the audacity
to call a religion or a God. "
2."If your looking for the one and true God than (sic) I highly advise you
to
put away your old foolishness and pride and turn your hearts towards the
traditional Catholic latin mass- "
3."AT LEAST JESUS HAD WALKED THE EARTH AND HAD PERFORMED DOCUMENTED
MIRACLES- you surly (sic) could not say likewise for the likes of Thor,
Poseidon, Mercury,Diana.."

I am so SORRY! I had mistaken L M R for a valuable citizen in the
past. I had agreed with him, Privately, that some of the posts to the list
were not 'Pietas' et 'Pudicita', I was then morified to see what he had
done. However, He has shown himself to be no friend of Nova Roma but instead
against us.

I received two different translations of Caesar's De Gallico Bello, from the

I feel the same way, but most people seem to feel differently. My wife and
I have not had a tree in the few years that we have been together for the
holidays, but we have decided, at her initiative, to change that next year
when we have a child in the house.

It is almost as though we were sacrificing the tree to the child....

I still see these in the Foreign Language section at Barnes & Noble,

I'm pretty sure you can get them online too.
