reading all this, I add a hearty hear! hear! to Dexippius's request.

I add my thanks to Dexippius's. While I regret the necessity of this
situation, I feel it reflects the best of what we as citizens of Roma
can offer that when such a blatant violation made itself apparent,
though the urge to thoughtless ire was sure in many of us, myself
included, still the Constitution and the laws that we follow as citizens
were followed and upheld.

Salve my sororfamilias,
I am most saddened to learn of your loss. I, too, have been dealing with
family emergencies over the holidays as my grandmother suffered a stroke
and my husband's grandmother suffered a heart attack. our thoughts and
wishes are with you.
My Iuno Lucina shine her light upon you now and always.

Salvete Omnes!
I was curious if any of you have read Anne Rice's "Pandora." I've read all
but the newest in her Vampire Chronicles plus some of her oddities (the
avid readers will know of which I speak). I've always been impressed with
her correct usage of historical facts. She researches well for her novels.
She gives you a genuine feel for the historical period of time in which the
book is written.
I would highly recommend "Pandora" for anyone interested in a well-written
vampire novel which takes place (90%) in the Roma of Caesar Augustus. She
references a number of historical figures, and I quite enjoyed the
classical setting.
Happy Reading!
Oh! And while I'm on the topic of books, I just wanted to make the
announcement that as of Wednesday, January 6th (Epiphany, with all due
respect to Befana), I am now a business! This has long been a dream of
mine, and now it's coming into reality, slowly mind you, but yet surely. I
do booksearches and specialize in used and rare books. If you're looking
for something in particular, I can find it! Eventually I plan to have my
own used bookstore, that is once I raise enough capital and get rid of
these student loans.
As my thoughts begin to digress once again, I pose a question to the group
in reference to the mundane issue of student loans. What *really* happens
when one defaults on a student loan? I'm all ears. This is important. Feel
free to respond to me personally so as not to congest the list.
Multi Grates,

Salve!
I've just joined this list and the only reason why is because i have a
Latin project to do on any aspect of Ancient Rome, and i thought i could
possibly find some people with information who are willing to help. I
originally wanted to do superstitions and fortunetelling, but that would
have tied in with religion and make it complicated. So i changed my topi
idea to Medicine of Ancient Rome. I'm going to visit the novaroma website
in hopes of finding some useful info, but id appreciate the help of anybody.
Please.
Thanks,
Jessica Dillon :-)

Well, congratulations. You can always depend on me for a book search as
I am forever looking for a book of some kind. Right off the top of my
head, the book I would like to find would be a Boy Scouts of America,
Sea Explorer Manual pre- 1954 edition. I have a later edition but a lot
was taken out of the book in later editions
Audens
Fair Winds and Following Seas!!!

Ave et Hailsa Submariner!
I'll ask my dad if he can find a copy. He's still a fairly active Scouter, Troop 83,
Knox Trail District, Pioneer Valley Council in the Springfield, MA area. B'sides, he
was a Sea Scout out of the Chicopee, MA Ship. He says they had an 9 pair whaleboat for
their vessel.
