Thanks Venator, but I think that I found the one I was looking for, but
I do really appreciate the offer.

Tell your Dad, that I was in the S.E.S. Ranger on the Columbia River out
of Portland, Ore. We had a 30 foot Coast Guard Whaleboat double-banked
with 10 oars and a steering oar. She was sloop-rigged (Marconie) and
had a 500 lb steel plate centerboard that could be taken up into a
centerboard trunk for shallow water sailing. I was a member of the
Sailing, Rowing, Swimming, and Marlinspike Team. I was an Able Sea
Explorer when I joined the Navy. Later, I served as a mate on a Sea
Explorer Ship out of Camden, New Jersey, and a ship in San Diego. I
started my own ship in San Diego (S.E.S. Allan S. Jeffris) served as a
Skipper for three years, Committee Chairman for one and Council Sea
Explorer Commodore for three. I did my Woodbadge Ticket as a Sea
Exlorer Skipper, and Organized a Joint Sea Badge Course in the San Diego
County Council / Long Beach Council. I now serve the Connecticut Rivers
Council as a Council Commissioner for Training and a Dean of Facilities
for the Annual University of Scouting in this state.

I would like to meet your Dad sometime, I'll bet we could "Sea-Story"
everybody right outa the room!!!!!

Salvete omnes!

I read another thing about the sacerdotes of Cybele. It seems that they could be roman citizens of plain right since an edict of Emperor Claudius that regulated the cult. So, whoever wants to be a priest of Cybele, has much research ahead!

Subject: My almost labor!!

Salvete all --

Tis been a very interesting Tuesday!!!

I spent 4 hours in the Maternity wing of my little hospital, waiting
for the doctors and nurse to decide what to do with me. As I am
technically 12 days from 36 weeks (and so 12 days from being
able to have a baby who doesn't need intensive care), they wanted
to work on stopping any contractions. I had been contracting
irradically since 6 last night or so, but ignored it (hoping against
hope? I know it was stupid)until about 10 this morning, when I
called the doctor. They had me come in (after a warning call to the
babysitter, just in case) and put me on 'The Belt" to monitor fetal
movement, contractions and heartbeat. I was having relatively
strong contractions in the beginning, but they calmed down as time
progressed, and when they gave my a saline IV (no drugs, thank
the gods). The contractions are worse when I sit, as opposed to
laying down, so it has been suggested I lay down or recline as
much as possible. Technically I am NOT on bedrest. I'm
supposed to take it easy for the next 12 days at the VERY least
(guess that means at 12 days I can do what I want, since Lapis
can safely be born). This means, no more grocery shopping all by
my lonesome (I am to call the senior transportation people, who I
have only called on thus far for doctors appointments and rides of
more than 5 blocks), no more marathon housecleaning (luckily
Terry is getting pretty good at bringing mommy "icks") and NO
traveling, not even to Minneapolis to have my hard drive replaced
(guess I'll be either coughing up cash or putting this thing under a
train after Lapis is born)!! I also need to drink even more liquids!!

Terry was wonderful, she patted my belly before they put the belt
on me (guess saying "You can't come today! Your not done yet"),
then sat or lay quietly beside me watching television until she fell
asleep, then she got juice and crackers for lunch, then said "bye-
bye" to anyone who came into the room (I guess she as as ready
to go home as I was)!!

I have a regular appointment on Thursday and then another 2
weeks after that and then if I go into labor, I just go into labor. I
decided on a c-section regardless, as I really can't bear the thought
of going through labor all alone. Many think I will never make it to
February 15th, which means I will have to rely on my Plan B and
then tell my aunt not to bother coming, as the baby has been born
(my poor aunt will just have to take over someone elses house).

Just thought I would share with you guys. It's been a very exciting
day for Terry and I. I just noticed, it finally stopped snowing!!
Figgers <G>!!

Salvete omnes

The forum has been pretty quiet lately, and so I thought that I might chance
redundancy by posting something:

Has anyone checked out the site at <a href="http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/ancient/" target="_top" >http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/ancient/</a> ?

There are excerpts from a quite a few classical texts there. One that I
read is by Tertullian, but there is a lot more there.

Salvete Graecus, et omnes.

I had not trouble accessing the Lusitania web site.
Graecus, I still must say that you have a web site to be proud
of.

Bene vale.

Salve Graecus!

I visited the Domus Lusitania. Quite a nice site. I especially liked
the page on the pre-Roman Religion in Lusitania. In the Legends, the
Gaels of Eire are said to have emigrated from the Iberian peninsula.

Vale - Venator

Salvete,
The Lusitania web site is indeed worth visiting. Graecus is to be praised for
creating a site that is both informative and elegant.
