Salve!

I just asked them if I could distribute some panflets there, but they found
Nova Roma very interesting and liked the Lusitania Web page. And so they
asked me to write about it under the section "Peninsular archaeology and the
new information technologies". And they say that they will show/distribute
any material we send them. Well... I'll be there, and the voice of Nova Roma
shall be heard! =)

Vale!

Salve Graecus!
This is a very important step. Once scholars realize we are attempting to
recreate and study working model of Roman institutions, and this is not some
fad, we will begin to gain credibility, something that is very important to
our continuing.

I have spoken to my mentor and other Roman scholars. I too have been asked to
write updates about our continued existence, so that they can keep track of
what we are up to.

Ave Antonius Gryllus, Praetor et Aedile!

Well done! I know you will do well, as you showed you well know how to
communicate during the election campaign and by your efforts with the
Lusitania webpage.

Salvete Omnes!

I have been in search of information which will enable me to make a good
replica of the Falernian Wine of Roma Antiqua. Today I have located a
key piece of the puzzle which has enabled the rest of the picture to
fall into place.

The Falernian of Roma Antiqua was made from the juice of a grape called
the Primitivo. It is the most ancient of grapes cultivated in the
Campagnia region of Italy. To this day it is grown there. It has been
shown to be genetically identical to a grape grown in this country
(USA). Before I reveal the identity of this grape, I shall make some
Falernian Americus first. I shall make a wine which is deep amber in
color, full bodied, strong in spirit and somewhat spicy in tone.

On another note. I have been writing about forming a Society for
Brewers, Vinters and Cooks. I am putting the polish on a proposal which
I shall submit to the Consuls and Senate within the next few days.
E-mail me at amgunn@-------- if you are intere-------- in -------- a
Sodalis being part of Nova Roma.

Speaking of trebuchets, in Dave Barry's Guide to Guys, he has a chapter on two guys who decided to build a
trebuchet for the purpose of hurling a Buick. They did a lot of research and actually built the thing, but I'm not sure
they tossed the car. Maybe there's something on the Web about this?

I read an article last year about a Brit who built a trebuchet.
He hurls dead cows and other demised livestock with it. Also
rocks. The stock was in the interest of historical research...
the old guys hurled the critters to spread pestilence within the
besieged burg. He offered it for Costner's Hood movie, and was
turned down. He told them it wasn't like anybody would actually
be thrown in it... the G-Force experienced at the business end of
the arm would be fatal before the passenger was launched. I think
it was like a 1 to 10 (15) G-Force in very very very little time.
What do the medicos call that? Capillary shock?
Anyway it was a copy of a Times article.
