Celebrate History Event. NR helpers needed. |

Salvete ohmes!
On April 9-11, The Celebrate History Convention will take place in San
Francisco CA.
I am putting on a recreation in miniature figures (25mm) of the Battle of 1st
Cremona to publicize the existence of Nova Roma, our micro nation. I am also
attempting to organize a contubernium of Roman Legionaries, composed of
reenactors. They will have to be available to answer visitors' questions
about the Imperial Roman Army in the display area and demonstrate Roman drill
to the interested school kids.
We also need knowledgeable person from NR to be able to explain who and what
we are to interested parties.
I really need knowledgeable persons with accurate kit and gear to form the
contubernium. I don't care much for overlapping armor styles, but since this
unit is supposed to be typical of the confusion of 69 AD, that will be OK.
I'm also looking for a Decurio, to run the contubernium.
You don't have to speak Latin, but knowledge of Roman Drill is needed.
April 9, Friday, AM, when we can set up the display. Setup is from 8:30am,
and must be complete by 2 PM, when the Dealer Room opens.
"Education Day" April 9th school tours begins, however, by 9:30 AM.
If we want to work on educating the kids, we will need to coordinate
with the con so we can have some of us setting up the display while others
do a presentation that AM to the schools.
All volunteers who work six or more hours, receive complementary
admission to the General Admission events. This work would include
things like a military "drill," an Education Day presentation, a Guard at
the door to the display room, etc.
So, if all the participating NR members work the six hours of "Education
Day," they're covered for the weekend. Besides the lodging and food, the only
costs that the con is asking for are covering the table rental for the
organization display in the display room.
As for setting up the Cremona Recreation, on Sat. my friend and I, have that
covered. The figures (600 of them) are 1/2 painted, and we will be working on
the terrain board next month. My friends in Italy are preparing the map of
the battleground from which we will design our terrain board.
I can't stress how important it is for NR personal to take part. Besides
myself most of NR CA province notables will be there. Our busy Propraetor
will attend two days, one of our Praetor Urbanus will be there as well a
several Legionari. But we need more. We need people to go to the schools on
education day, and discuss Roman history with the kids. We need people to man
the display and explain what NR means. We will gain publicity since the event
will be covered by the media. I realize that airfare and lodging is not
cheap, but I think that an investment in NR now, will pay dividends in the
future.
Thank you for your time.
Valete!

Fwd: Ritual to celebrate Nova Roman New Year |

Salvete, omnes!
I'm forwarding an announcement of a public ritual which we will
be performing in Britannia to celebrate the foundation of Nova Roma,
which I have just sent to all my British citizens. Whilst I realise
that this is likely to be a bit out of the way for most people on the
Nova Roma list, I wanted to make the details public anyway, just so
you know that, as with the banquet we held, you would all be welcome
at our ritual if you could attend!
I'd also be interested to know if anyone else has any plans for
celebrating the anniversary of Nova Roma's foundation. Do the College
of Pontiffs or the Chief Vestal have anything planned? I've been a bit
surprised to see nothing about this on the mailing list, as it is
obviously a very important event for us all.
I'll look forward to hearing what else people are planning, if
anything!
Vale,
Aprica.

I fear everyone has been too concerned with money. There are other things Nova

Since so many people have wondered...
The Citizen's List is completed and is being transmitted to the Consuls and Censores.
This facilitates the assignment of Tribes and Centuries, and the Comitae, which is necessary for votes, debates,
hearings & trials, etc.

Salvete.
Fabius.
Have you been in contact with Vartarius and his legionaries?
Vartarius.
Have you been in contact with Fabius about your legionaries?
The last I heard was in the negative, but intended.
To Both, and all
Using this list to coordinate can be a more sure way of getting through than the
phone, though not as personal. The email Will be picked up, eventually.
Fabius, in front of all Nova Roma I want to thank you for putting your Cremona
game together for this Celebrate History con rather than the one you had first
intended. It will be a definite attention getter. So will Vartarius and his
people (Vartarius told me early this month that some legionaries from the X
Legion might also show). Fabius, if you can get another eight... Well. The
Romans WILL be noticed. I hope to ask you both more detailed questions off the
public list.
Once again...
Evoe, Fabius! Good work.
Valete.
