For those who don't know, all humor aside.

"Because a Praetor had blocked one route with his army, Publius Cornelius
Scipio was on his tail with a consular army and the Roman navy controlled the
seas. Fall out from the first Punic war-loss of sea control for Carthage.
Hannibal had no choice but to cross the Alps. An interesting point, because
Rome had sea control, Publius was able to move his army from Spain and to
intercept Hannibal at Placentia on the Trebia. Had Publius won, Hannibal
would have been destroyed and history different. Hannibal Barca won. And
the rest, as they say, was history."

Salve, Censores Julianus and Palladius;

I also have most of Connolly's books and find them to be very
informative, accurate, and well done. I recommend him to you for your
consideration in the strongest possible terms. He can be reached
through Mr Bishop on Armalist. If you do not have the Armalist address,
I can provide it.

I wish to thank Gangalius for his excellent work on the website. In my
opinion, it looks much better, and there is a much improcved use of the
flag. I must report that three of the selections along the strip did
not turn from yellow to purple after my use,and the first item on the
list did not lead anywhere. My WebTV is acting up with the white
background, it seems, so I don't know what the top item says. I use a
television screen as a monitor, and the horizontal shifting across the
screen was not necessary for me.

I fully realize that some are having problems, and for that I am sorry,
but changes may require some juggling to get everything right. I think
you are on the right track, and as a good friend of mine who makes up
web pages for a living tells me, there is a lot of work in that effort.

I thank you, sir, for your excellent ideas, and all of your efforts. I
am sure as the comments come in as to small gliches in the new system
that you will be able to take care of them. Please keep up the good
work, I applaud your efforts for NR.

Salvete,

I am considering applying for a priesthood. With Lapis getting a little
older and the Sodalis needing only additions, where I revamped it before, I
think I have the time I would require myself to dedicate to one.

Who do I apply to again?

I personally like the changes to the Nova Roma site save for the scrolling.
I believe it would be greatly improved if the divider is moved to the left
into the contents section more. It does not seem necessary for the amount of
space it takes up. Just a suggestion. = )

Yes, this has been corrected. Gangalius has done an excellent job of resizing
the basic frames so that pretty much all monitors can see the site in it's
entirety! :)

So, I guess I'll just send this to the forum, even though it's of marginal
or no interest to Nova Roma at large.

In the left frame you have --

Via Romana
The Roman Way of life, Virtues, families (gentes), and sodalitatis
(associations).

I clicked on "Via Romana" but cannot find any further reference to
sodalitates.

I think that the website looks good in general. The announcement of the
next market day chat needs to be updated.

Salvete, omnes.

It is my understanding that several, if not all, of the @novaroma.org
addresses are affected. For instance, the online citizenship application
form cannot be sent to the Censores at this time. We're working on this.

Regarding the Sodalitatis, that's also in the works but a dedicated page is
not ready at this time.

Nocturnia is developing a Java script (well, not while she's on Crete,
obviously) that will automatically update the market day chat announcement.

If anyone would like to work on these and other issues regarding the web
site, the web team has many positions open. You are welcome to join us.

Marcus Martianus Gangalius

Subject: Possible NR site Java problems...

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but AOL will not read Java
script. In fact, it often fails AOL completely, leaving pages unloadable. Any
other browsers have this problem? I believe there was a fairly common
difficulty with this a year or so ago, but I'm unsure if web browsers have
pretty much been updated so that this is no longer a problem.

If anyone will have a problem with Java, it's best to mention it now before
folks spend a lot of their volunteer time on it.

That is a common problem with AOL browsers. My partner and I have encounted Java
problems on our web pages. Contact AOL Admin, and they should tell you how to
correct it.

I wouldn't know a Java if it hit me in the eye. As far as I am
concerned it is an island country somewhere in Malasia. My WebTV does
not do well with new hot ideas, but I won't know until somebody sends
