I'm really interested in information regarding where Nova Roma is going. I
guess I'm confused by the whole "sovereign nation" thing. I see Nova Roma
proclaiming itself a nation yet it doesnt want to have any real military, no
land for any purposes other than a meeting place, and basically is just
either a church or a school. I don't mean to give any insult with this email
but I really am VERY confused. I have read your website from front to back
and even though you've explained your goals it still doesnt sink in mainly
because of the "sovereign nation" thing...

Well, as you were told at the time, it was not processed because there was
no Roman name with it. If you have one in mind now, let me know and we can
make you a citizen.

Avete Omnes!
I have been having a little computer difficulty again. I tried to upgrade
my modem via a download and it screwed up my WIN95. I got WIN3.1 up again
last night, so I have some e-capability again.
Mead manual orders will be slow, I have a few going out today.

Coins and Coin Machines |

I would bet that it is. What we need is the name of the company and a
contact person within the company who can provide information on prices
for the engraving of a stamping die, and how much a machine would cost.
I would suppose that we would have to buy the machine, if they are for
sale, as interest in pennys turned into roman coins may not appeal to a
broad spectrum of the American people. The only other thing that would
be needed would be a marketing revue of the area where the "machine"
would be set up, which would give an idea of the usage rate of the
machine by prospective customers in that area, and when NR could expect
to get it's money back in sales of distorted pennies.
My estimate would be that such a machine would probably cost well over a
thousand dollars, and it costs about $.50 for a coin.
Information on the company and who to contact in the company should be
available at your local library.
When you get the information, let me know, as it sounds like a
facinating project!!!!.

Just a thought...
Why not use the same money and have dies made and strike coins the same
way
the Romans did. Copper and silver coins could be minted and sold. Seems
as cost
effective as a machine and a lot more truer to the cause.

Salvete,
There is, or there was, a plan for Nova Roma to issue some coins. As I
recall, the project had progressed to the point where a design had been
chosen, and the next step was to select a mint and find the funds necessary
to actually do it. No one has mentioned this for some time. Perhaps one of
our officials could make a comment?

"Classical Values Movement" |

Looking at the 60s, the 70s, the neo-nazi movement, the militia movement, and
all the other little things that are going on, obviously people are looking
for something to believe in. What about a "classical values movement"
created by Nova Roma, with LARGE numbers of people taking up the roman
virtues and some of the roman ways, etc. Could be a "nation within a nation"
and at some point in the future grow independant of other nations into its
own nation. Just a thought.

Note on the previous email, whole point is the large numbers thing. And it
wouldnt be just online...and of course wouldnt deal with paganism as a main
part, and wouldnt necessarily focus on Rome, etc.
