The Gaullic Coolus with modifications actually was replacing the Montefortino
style in the 30s BC, so I would think of these as more concurrent with the
early Principate then the Republic.

Salvete Qviriti,
As there are few magistrates (incl Censors I hope) on this list, I would
like to use opportunity and to inform you that during the last few days
I crossed many of the virtual discussing forums and live chat rooms in
Czech and Slovakia. I was looking for Roman enthusiast there and found
some Celts (from Boiohaeum) and Roman Qvirites (both from Czech and
Slovakia). We were talkig about NR too. I suppose some of them will
apply for NR citizenship and I would like to plead our magistrates to
approve the citizenship applications faster and not to allow the
enthusiasm of new commers to become extinct. I know all we are here
volutarily and all of us are quite busy, so it was just a very modest
request from me.
I would be very happy to meet some of you in a live chat in Bohemian
forums. There are two rooms prefered by our new friends: "Kelti a
Keltki" and "SPQR". Many of these new fellows knows English, German or
Russian (although Czech and Slovakian are the most popular languages).
The address of these chat rooms is <a href="http://www.xchat.cz" target="_top" >http://www.xchat.cz</a> . I personaly
visit them at about 11 AM to 2-3PM CET (central europ. time).
There are some key words, which may help you to register and enter
there: "prezivka" means nickname, "heslo" - password, "vstup" - enter,
"mistnosti"-rooms.

I can help...!
[religio] is a Restricted List; you have to have the Listowner's
approval before you can actually subscribe. I also imagine the new
List is going to attract a slightly-different mix of people, as there
are a number of Nova Roman 'expatriates' on [religio] and, at least as
of when I unsubbed, that was having the tendency to color the
discussion somewhat.
[ReligioRomana], OTOH, is open to everybody who's interested; and if I
understand correctly, it is going to be the official organ of the
Collegium Pontificium as well as the place to discuss Nova Roma's
practice of the Religio in general. Marce Cassi, correct me if I'm
wrong on either count...
Anyway, thank you, Cassi, for creating the new List. I think this
fills a definite need in the community, and corrects the gap left by
the resignation of the [religio] Listowner.

Lol! I notice that didn't stop you from subscribing to the new list as well,
Crys. Nice to see you there!
Actually, I thought you would be pleased to see the new list. I believe you
were one of the people who felt that there weren't enough Religio Romana
things going on *within* Nova Roma itself...
One of the reasons the new ReligioRomana list was created was because there
has been a lot of comment from people who "joined Nova Roma for the Religio"
and then haven't found their interests adequately met on the main NR list.
It was felt that the sensible way to do this would be to expand the Religio
infrastructure to include another list... rather than telling people they
should go elsewhere to find in-depth discussion of Religio issues.
I personally think that Pythia's "<a href="mailto:religio@--------" >religio@--------</a>" serves slightly
different needs in any case. The new list is open to new people checking out
the religio, while the older list requires permission to join. The new list
will also be a channel of communication among the NR priesthood and
Pontifices, which the other list probably couldn't ever be.

So now, just because some citizens don't get along, we
have to subscribe to yet another list, and copy our

all those Roman assemblies were created--the

Cassius hon, that's why the religio@onelist was created. The
problem there is that is wasn't sanctioned and so never recognized.

Someone asked Pythia to open up the list and so save the
confusion of 2 lists on basically the same subject? Takes about 2
seconds to change list attributes. Maybe she would, maybe she
wouldn't. The problem with lists like Pythias and the NR main list
(which you also need permission to join last I checked) is that you
approve the name, who could be anybody. Better to simply ban
people you can't handle on your list. Then again I am pathetically
liberal in my list ownership. I don't moderate and I don't ban. You
come and go of your own free will. The exception is the Back Alley
which requires permission to join. I have never thrown anyone off of
the Via Trames, however. Sulla and Serena are both there.
Haven't heard a peep, but Serena never did post much (but it's fun
when she does) and Sullas email address is tagged for automatic
deletion by my email program.
Anyhoo ... it could be confusing having the 2 lists to choose from.

Salvete Omnes,
Well its been a few days since I have not recieved anymore surveys.... As of this date I have gotten between 40-50 responses either e-mailed to me privately or snail mailed to me. If you haven't gotten your survey, or if it was deleted, please contact me off list..and I will be happy to send another survey to you immediately! For those who participated I want to thank everyone who has participated in it, I truly appreciate the responses both positive and critical. Secondly, within a week I will be posting some of the points that were stated, via an e-mail to illustrate some of the concerns our Civies have and some of their very good ideas for improvement. (For those who requested their surveys to remain confidential they will remain confidential) Currently I am in the process of measuring the responses and those results will be posted to the List. And, I will be in communication with my Consular Colleague in an effort to try to implement some of the very good suggestions that were given in the survey. This will be done via a report I will make out for implementing various improvements, so that all of the surveys will remain confidential.
It has been suggested by a number of respondents that a survey be given fairly regularly. Hopefully this will become a standard even in Nova Roma this will keep the magistrates informed on the views of the citizen body and will allow citizens a voice on the direction of Nova Roma...outside of just electing magistrates!

(LadyoftheFlowers). I assumed that these were
"Nova Roma" lists, but now I don't think so. On
all 3 lists, no one can post but the moderator.
Whenever the moderator posts, he copies all of
his lists and so I am receiving each email 3
times and they don't seem to have anything to do
with seminary training (or anything Roman). Does
anyone know what these lists are about? And since

Nova Roma Religion list was founded by a kid, if I recall...his name was
Tamale....I believe he was thrown off the NR main list...by P. Cassia?? for
disrupting the list. At one time on onelist...he created 5-10 separate Nova
Roma lists on one list...in which he was the moderator. They are not
official lists...and I dont think there are very many citizens on those
lists. I apologize but that is the best I can recall without going into my
notes....which are at my home computer...

Crys:
I am and there isn't. My problem is that it's a year late. Better late
than never I guess.
Cassius:
Yes, I know. Nova Roma should have sprung instantly from the head of Zeus
with a completely intact religious system, fully staffed priesthood and gods
know what else. Unfortunately it's a tough old world and we're just human
beings, so we do what we can.
A year ago we were hoping that the main list would be sufficient for most
religious traffic and that more specific stuff would be done through Email
between the priesthoods, Collegium Pontificum, etc. It turned out instead
that most religious traffic on the main list sparked arguments among
Citizens, and there has been little religious traffic by private Email even
though lots of addresses and info are posted on the main site.

Crys:
Cassius hon, that's why the religio@onelist was created. The
problem there is that is wasn't sanctioned and so never recognized.
Cassius:
The religio list was a private project of Pythia's... just like her personal
Hellenistic religion website. From the start her list was set up to discuss
general pagan issues and Hellenism just as much as the Religio Romana.
"Official sanction" was never really a question - since it wasn't anything
Pythia requested, the religio list remained simply one of many projects set
up by private Citizens.
Cassius:

Cassius:
Someone asked Pythia to open up the list and so save the
confusion of 2 lists on basically the same subject? Takes about 2
seconds to change list attributes. Maybe she would, maybe she
wouldn't.
Cassius:
Pythia's list is for general discussion of Hellenistic religion, general
pagan issues, and the Religio Romana. The new list has been set up primarily
as a resource for official Nova Roma religious communication, although
discussion on specifically Religio topics will of course be welcome. I doubt
very seriously that Pythia ever intended her list to be the place where the
Pontificial College communicated with the Nova Roma priesthood and pagan
Citizens. Now that she's left Nova Roma it's not too hard to guess that she
would prefer her religious discussion board not to be the place where
day-to-day Nova Roman religio business gets done.
Crys:
Cassius:
Truly, the moderation issue isn't the big difference between the two lists.
One is a general discussion list and the other is for organizational traffic
and to introduce prospective new Citizens to the Religio system within Nova
Roma.
Crys:
Anyhoo ... it could be confusing having the 2 lists to choose from.
Cassius:
I dunno, people now have an opportunity for general discussion and/or a forum
for organizational topics and specific discussion. Sounds more like an
expansion of available facilities than anything else... kind of like having
more than one road to travel on when you're looking to go places.
Vale,
Marcus Cassius Julianus
