Salvete!
I am sure that I speak for all Nova Romans when I say that Marcus Minucius
Audens, praetor and senator, is in all of our prayers, no matter which
deities we pray to, and that we hope for a quick recovery for him. May he
again honor us with his presence, wisdom and insight. We are the poorer
for his absence.
Valete,
Decius Iunius Palladius,
Consul et pontifex

So now, just because some citizens don't get along, we
have to subscribe to yet another list, and copy our
posts to both lists? Well, then, again, this is how
all those Roman assemblies were created--the
Patricians trying to counter the actions of the
Plebeians....
Salve,
This has very little to do with some citizens not getting along. The old
"religio" list was created as a list for general discussion of many pagan
topics, including the Religio. It was set up by Pythia at the same time she
was doing *several* things regarding her personal interest in Hellenic
paganism, including setting up a religious website and creating (really
nice!) Classical style jewelry.
It's great to have other resources out there, and there was never any
discussion of her list being "co-opted" for communication among the Nova Roma
priesthood. That would have made as much sense as Nova Roma deleting the
Pantheon pages from the NR website, just because Pythia already had a
religious page of her own going and people shouldn't have to make choices!
The new list will be mainly focused on organizational topics concerning the
Religio within Nova Roma, and will also be a place where new folks can find
out about how the Religio is being reconstructed in Nova Roma itself. That is
in fact NOT what Pythia started her religio list for, and to try to make her
list into that would basically have meant trying to take her own list away
from her.
Pythia's list will no doubt remain a great forum for general conversation on
a wide range of topics, from Hellenistic to general pagan issues. The new
list will be more narrowly focused on the goings on within Nova Roma. Don't
worry about having to cross post too much info... I imagine you'll find that
there won't be all that much overlap.
Valete,
Marcus Cassius Julianus
Pontifex Maximus

OK, it made me think and so I now ask:
Who would the god of email be?

Salvete,
I would say Mercurius.
(or Hermes, Elegba/Esu, etc)

Actually, "New Denarii" might be more appropriate as both the "Dollar" and
the "Pound (Stirling)" were originally based on silver. I believe the U.S.
dollar was a "Silver Certificate" into the early 1960s.
Would it be "Novi Denarii" or "Denarii Novi"? (Taking my problem endings
into account!)
