Salvete! Querit Vespasianus:

Et iterum rogit:
>what am habbnen wid der finniyus weth?am wha am drf tending tert thy wens?
Respondeo: are you all right, Vespasiane? What are they putting in the water
in Brighton these days? And could you please bottle some in an amphora for
me (I'm stocking up for Saturnalia).
Seriously, questions on this list stand a much better chance of being
answered if they are asked in Welsh, Greek, Gaelic or Flemish.
Valete,
Vado.

Here is a site that I came across that had some interesting recipes from Ancient Rome. They seem to have done their homework. http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~mjw/recipes/ethnic/historical/ant-rom-coll.html

L. C. Sulla has posted that he understands that you have broken your
ankle. I have not heard from you in a while and I bring you my best
wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope that you are otherwise in good
fettle, and I have enjoyed your very detailed discussions regarding
Roman Military History on Armalist. You are certainly the Roman
Military Historian of the World!!
All The Best;

Salvete,
Thank you for posting this recipe site. I notice that the author suggests
replacing Liquamen with salt or a salt & wine mixture. A suggestion for the
bold is to experiment with Thai fish sauce, a substance made from pressed
anchovies & water. It can be found any supermarket with a Thai section.
Valete,
Justinia Cassia
