Thank you for your warm welcome, everyone, as well as the confidence which
the Collegium has placed in me. In the coming years, I hope to see and be
a part of the revival of Religio Romana; the increasing community of Nova
Roma beyond an Internet presence; and our interaction with existing
neopagan revivalists/reconstructionists in public and private religious
rituals.
Our Roman ancestors took great advantage of the interactions with other
communities with whom they came in contact while spreading their own
influences far and wide -- sharing and comparing ideas with all kinds of
diverse peoples. I hope some day we may be a part of such a larger
community as others become familiar with and begin to practice the
traditions of Religio Romana. For an empire which had such a huge
influence on Western civilization, there are surprisingly few in our times
who follow the Religio as a spiritual path or understand and worship the
ancient deities of the Romans. I hope to be one of many who are
instrumental in changing that balance in the years to come.
We in Nova Roma and the Collegium have much learning and much work to do,
and I am excited about this prospect.
