Salve, Germanicus.
I thought, perhaps, you might be able to use some help in maintaining the
website for the next month. My schedule has finally slowed down a bit, and I
once again have something which most people refer to as... free time:). If I
can be of any assistance in an unofficial capacity, let me know and I'll do
what I can, if not, well...I tried:).

Salve,
Rest assured, you are a citizen. You would not have received a voter code
otherwise.
Not long after you were accepted as a citizen you should have received a
a "congratulation and welcome" letter (email). My apologies if you did
not.

Yes, a handful of votes were not counted because people incorrectly
entered their voter codes. To repeat, you MUST enter your code EXACTLY as
it was given. This includes uppercase or lower case letters. Do not
substitute letters for numbers and vice versa. 0 is a number, O is a

No I didn't recive any "congratulation and welcome" email, probably because
my inbox was filled with a huge number of spam messages (more than
2500:-(((()for several days and I was to delete all messages in it.
I continue to think that old Soviet Hymn tune wasn't so bad idea for 5
reasons:
- it sounds like a real anthem; but
- actually it was from the very beginning created as a national anthem;
- now there is no such state, so the tune is FREE at the moment (never
heared befor about 'Old Russian Communists':-);
- I don't think many Americans or Europeans hearing this music will remember
that ONCE (already many years ago) it was the USSR Hymn, because even here
in Russia many people don't remember the tune of their former country:-);
- it's out of copyright, AFAIK.
And additionnaly, probably _any_ melody that can be suggested as a NR anthem
(not only former Soviet Hymn) already has its own background, that has
nothing to do with NR's aims.
And I got some more naive 'novice' questions, for example:
- what do letters SPQR in NR's national flag mean? A latin phrase? And why
the flag is red?
- what do abbreviations like IMHO, AFAIK ('as far as I know', I believe?)
and so on mean?
- do I use a word "Sarmatus" correctly for Latin equivallent for "Russian"?
Valete.

It is kinda' nice... A few months ago, they
accidentally dug up a Temple to Mithras about 10
miles from me. About 2 miles from me (In the city
of Antwerp), they found the foundations of a
Roman building.

If you have half as much fun as I had with Vado
and Aletheia at the Pagan Federation
Conference last Saturday, then you'll have a
great time! Still, I wish that I hadn't drank so
much of the "Specially Blessed Thorrshammer Ale".
My stomach has JUST finally recovered :-)
For me, it is mostly a matter of "Roman Pagan
companionship." I meet/speak to hundreds of
Pagans on a regular basis, but so far I'm the
only one interested in Religio Romana. I have met
lots of Wiccans who will throw a Roman God or two
into their rituals but it's not quite the same
thing...

Hi Cassius,

But how many of us in the Roman time zone are
awake and at the computer at 3am in the morning?
I am getting my well-needed beauty sleep at that
hour (unless the chat hour has been changed--I
thought it was at 9PM New York time)
Cassius:

You are certainly correct about that! In Belgium,
most people don't even own a typewriter.

Provincia?
Well things can only improve in Belgica! Since
there is only one member--me-- things can't get
worse :-) Actually, I have lots of ideas. I am
happy to give out Nova Roma brochures along with
all of my other Pagan stuff that we (the Pagan
Federation International) distribute. I am even
happy to translate the basic Nova Roma info that
Vado gave me into Dutch & French (for the
Belgians) and a few other languages if you want
(German, Spanish and even Serbo-Croatian--my best
non-pagan friend is a Serbian-ex-patriot). But
at this point, for people without computers
and/or who are not fluent in English, Nova Roma
can't offer them too much. However, little by
little I am promoting Nova Roma alongside the PF.
When I
am knowledgeable enough, I plan on organizing
Open PF rituals as Religio Romana rituals
(instead of the usual Wicca/Wiica-ish open
rituals that everyone else does). In this way,
more people will learn about the Religio Romana
as a Pagan Path.....
Bright Blessings,
Diana

Nova Roma Before the World |

Salve, Diana Aventina;
Just an idea, but if not a lot of foks have computers, what about the
old fashioned fan club idea. Now, I am certainly no expert on Begian
Culture, but there must be groups of people in Belgica or any other
country who gather together for meetings like flower clubs, quilting /
applique clubs, Boy Scouts. Military interest clubs, and a variety of
civilian clubs of various interests. These clubs / organizations would
probably be listed on some sort of national or provincial listing, so
the general public could find out about them.
These type of clubs have a certain kind of appeal to Nova Roma in that
peope who take advantage of such organizations are "joiners" and a given
proportion of these "joiners" will have an interest in Roman Culture.
To push the anology a bit farther, a smaller proportion will be
interested Religio Romano, as well as Roman Foods, Roman Families and
Roman Engineering and other aspects of the Roman World. The trick is to
get interesting literature into the stream, so these people will be able
to exercise their interests. I should think that to some degree this
scenario would be available in all countries.
The problem then is to create sufficient literature and exposure to the
general public and to this organization net, so that people can find out
more information with relative ease. Newspapers, Magazines, Radio and
Television immediately spring to mind as well as the Internet.
What kind of resources does NR worldwide have in order to take
advantages of this kind of coverage?
--Who works with a newspaper that might be able to design a public
service ad for NR?
--Who has access to a radio or TV network that might introduce NR onto a
talk show or program that is always looking for new ideas?
--Who has access to a magazine or periodical that might get a public
service ad or article into that periodical about NR?
--Who is familiar enough with the Internet to create advertisng for NR
and get it to a large number of people in a positive way?
--Who is willing to post fliers in Public Libraries. Public Offices. and
Public Notice Facilities like Community Halls, Senior Citizen Faciities,
and other public information facilities?
--And then who is willing to notify NR of what they have done in this
area, for publicaton in the Eagle???
Marcus Cassius Julianus has designed some excellent NR fliers which are
available for the asking, and which can be reproduced and distributed.
He has also designed a Website for the Nova Brittiania Provincia, and
the Provincia has also developed a series of ideas for bringing NR more
effectively before the general publc of the world. I am sure that other
members of NR in all areas have done some sililar things. Perhaps we
need a listing on the Web Page of these services to be at the fingertips
of our citizens, so they may be taken advantage of. Essentially all
that is needed now in any Provincia is to obtain some of these
broshures, translate them into the language of the Provincia and
distribute them as above, while designing a Website for each province
and later each Regio. For those Provincia not having a large percentage
of the population in possesion of computers then arrangements for clubs
could be made with the publishing of a simple one page newsletter which
could be included in the Eagle. These are beginning efforts, and later
may be supplemented by financial efforts that are bugeted for that
purpose.
There has been some talk of NR not truly being an International
Organization, but as Editor of the Eagle, I have recieved no notices,
bulletins, or news from any specific Province especially those Overseas.
For the Members of Overseas Provinces the Eagle would welcome such
information, and upon the development of, let's say, five interested
people in each province a special one page newsletter or more depending
upon the efforts available in the translation line, could be printed and
issued for that Province on a quarterly or semi-annual basis. Even
oftener as the assistance and funding allowed.
In closing, the above ideas are just a few off the top of my head, but I
am positive that the Citizens of Nova Roma will have many more ideas to
contribute towards this necssary effort. I urge you all to turn over
these ideas, and make your own known to the ultimate goal of stimulatng
some sort of International Exchange of information and the advertisement
of Nova Roma.
Very Respectfully;
Marcus Minucius Audens

I volunteered once before and I am willing to do it again. I will not
run for the office, but I will offer my services to whoever may run or

I will not run for the position itself as my commitments are many
