Salve,

I have asked this question before but lost the reply. Could somebody tell me
how much it would cost to subscribe to the Eagle from Australia?

the distribution of The Eagle in Europe. It should reduce our overheads,
which can only mean that the Eagle then becomes a source of revenue:-).

Salve Serg. Aust.;

Profound thinking has never been a particular forte of mine. Some
things seem "obvius" to e and thats probably as close as I ever grt to
"profound."

Of course, one of the major problems is that "free trade" is just that.
Some people whose scruples are somewhat "freeer" than others begin to
take advantage, to to take shortcuts and somebody develops a rule / law
to curb that whereupon someone else thinks up a way around it, another
rule is needed and soon everyone is bound up by a ball of rules
established to keep a few lesser particular individuals in line, but of
course doesn't work because it is this very group that continually
pushes the envelope. The rules force more people to push the envelope
because the restrictions are so tight, and down goes the flag, and we
start all over again. What to do--Shoot the offenders!! Problem--when
you walk into a room and ask all of the "offenders" to raise their hand,
how do you determine the liars??

If I knew the answer to that question, I would indeed be a profound
thinker!!

Vale, Respectfully;
Marcus Audens

Subject: Instant Messaging Program?

Salve

I am just curious......and considering we have alot of new people on the
NR list. Just how many citizens do we have on AIM (Aol Instant
Messaging), ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger?

For myself I am on ICQ - 2122309 and AIM as Nova Roman.

If anything, I would like to add this to the Citizenship application as
a means to foster communication. Also, if possible a small section to
the Nova Roma Website, where we all who have this information, can
better communicate with each other.

Salve,
Speaking for myself, I have aol instant messenger
(GaryMac65) and I use it EXTENSIVELY. Whenever I'm at
home or at work I'm on and it has proved to be quite
helpful from time to time with my "buddies" are on and
I have some type of question that needs answering. .
.I sure beats making the phone call and getting the
voice mail and then playing telephone tag for the next
couple of days:)
Personally I think that it would be very useful for
Senate meetings. Since a chat room can be created
with specific parameter that would keep others out, it
would, to my mind, make the Senate debates more like
we were all in the same room at the same time. Best
of all aol instant messenger is FREE and you don't
have to be an aol subscriber to get it. While I know
that the other messenger services mentioned would most
likely have these same features, and while I'm not a
"spokesman" for aol, I was introduces to aol instant
messenger about a year and a half ago, I like it and.
. that's that:)

in regards to free trade: you make good comments. this is why, if true free
(faizse-faire) captialism is to exist, it can only do so by a total change in
the moral and philosphical of the people. Ayn Rand was persisnt about this
issue, and insited true indiviusal freedom can only exisit if their is
economic freedom, beacuse in the end all polticical and social issues all
come down to economics. free trade can work, but the people needs to change,
not the laws. laws are based upon set princpals, and, especially in the U.S.,
many laws have been enacted outside of the orignal functions of goverment.
the two most important being: to protect it's citizens from crimnals and
foreign invaders, and to settle honset disputes amongst men(i.e. private
property). just my thoughts.

All but the last day
is for private commemoration of the dead, but for
the whole
temples are closed, magistrates do not wear their
togas of office,
and no marriages may be performed. Offerings are

Salve, Citizens of Nova Roma;

I, Marcus Minucius Audens, stand before you in Forum to announce this
Sacred Day, XII Februarius / February 12--My Roman Religio Chaplain,
assigned to me by the Pontifex Maximus, has notified me of his illness,
and so I undertake this honor alone before you. I stand in forum with
my head covered and my voice mute in silent respect for this day, Sacred
to Diana Goddess of the Moon and the Hunt.

I again am struck by the great accomplishments of the Roman World which
was inspired by the Gods of Rome. I would ask that one of the Pontiffs
/ Priests / Priestess' would provide suitable prayer and offering to
this Goddess, whom we honor this day.

Salve Q. Fabius

I had begun a post to suggest posting The Eagle.pdf on the Website, but
then I realized that few would have reason to pay for subscription if
they could get it online for free.

Maybe we could archive them on the Website after they were a year old.

Archives are a great idea! It'd be a year before we could do this since only
the newest ones done by Palladius will be in any kind of computer format.
That would save the new info for paying subscribers, but give new folks the
chance to review what they've missed.

Mine is Cassius622, and I'm also happy to speak to fellow Romans. (Although
if I'm online during weekday afternoons, I'm probably at work and often have
to leave the computer without notice!)

Question! Perhaps we should have a voluntary online database for Citizen
Contact? It might be helpful if Citizens could just go to a page on the NR
site, and look up a list of people who are willing to be contacted by Email
or instant message.

NR has policies about keeping the Citizen Rolls confidential, but that
doesn't mean that folks who are interested can't volunteer generic computer
contact info, and a brief biography of topics they're interested in.

Valete,
