This is to introduce myself as the new Propraetor Novae Galliae.
I would like to thank the Gods and the Senate for the creation of Provincia Gallia as well as for the honor granted to me to become the first Propraetor Novae Galliae for 1.500 years.


I would like to publically thank Nicolaus Moravius Vado, Propraetor Brittaniae for his support into the creation of Provincia Gallia. I would also like to congratulate him in the name of all Gallici for his election among the Senate.

I also congratulate Marcus Octavius Germanicus , Alexander Iulius Caesar Probus, and Marcus Marcius Rex for their election to the Senate and Livia Cornelia Aurelia for her appointment as Propraetor Americae Austroccidentalis.

I seize the opportunity of this announcement to issue my first provincial edictum :

APPOINTMENT OF LEGATI GALLIAE

As Propraetor Galliae, I am pround to announce that the province will be organized into two subordinate regions :
- Gallia Australis : France, Southern Belgium, Luxemburg, Corsica, Monaco
- Gallia Borealis : Netherlands and Northern Belgium

I officially appoint the following citizens to serve as Legati for these two regions and as Scribae for the Propraetor :

Legatus et Scriba Galliae Australis : Marcus Maximius Gaius
Legatus et Scriba Galliae Borealis : Sextus Apollonius Draco

They are both to administrate smaller region tasks.

I also appoint Sextus Apollonius Draco as Procurator to serve as the deputy to the Propraetor in case I would suddenly be unable to fulfill my duties.

I have every confidence in both the new Legati and I am sure their assistance would be priceless in promoting the cause of Nova Roma.


As promised, I would shortly issue a French translation of this announcement, and I would like Sextus Appolonius Draco to issue a Dutch translation on the dutch-speaking list.

I stand here today as a new senator of Nova Roma. This honour means a lot to

I have uploaded a photo of myself in Roman matron's garb to

This is just the tunica and stola, fastened at the shoulder with
penannular brooches and tied at the waist. (You can't see it, but I am
also wearing sandals.)

I look tired and displeased in this photo because it was about 45
degrees Fahrenheit (that's about 9 Celsius) at the SCA event where this
was taken, and we were in an unheated hall.
