A fair and gracious question, that I'm happy to answer. I claim no supremacy of
legal or ethical judgement. The list of my "legal betters" is based on my own
assessment of their experience and fairmindedness in legal, administrative, and
political issues, and/or their demonstrated adherance to sound reasoning and
ethics. There are others as well who I might have easily chosen.

- Nicholas Moravius Vado (public administrator)
- Marcus Marcius Rex (lawyer)
- M. Mucius Scaevola Magister (professor of Roman Law)
- M. Marius Merullus (paterfamilias)
Marius Peregrinus will also be consulted before I make my decision. I am also
reviewing the cited Nova Roman law myself to weigh its applicability.

Congratulations especially to Censor-elect Lucius Equitius
Cincinnatus, and consuls-elect Flavius Vedius Germanicus and Marcus
Cassius Iulianus! There are no better hands that the Republic could
be placed in than those of these three men.
A technical note: the results of those offices elected by the Comitia
Centuriata and the Comitia Populi Tributa should not have been
announced by the tribunes of the plebs but should have been announced
by the presiding magistrates--the consuls--here in this forum. Nova
Roman law is quite explicit on this point.

Today is the Divalia or Angeronalia. Angerona represents the anguish of the
Winter Solstice, when the old Sun is departing and there is no certainty

Today "we offer the sacrifice of a pregnant sow, bread and sweet wine to
Hercules and Ceres" (Macrobius, Saturnalia, 3.11.10).
Today is the fifth day of the Saturnalia.

serve it that I shall now be using the handle 'PeregrinePrimus' in the
Forum Romanum Chat. My name (for most purposes) is now Lucius Marius
Peregrinus, so it is not appropriate for me to use 'MariusFimbria' any
longer. (As for why 'PeregrinePrimus' instead of 'MariusPeregrinus'
vel simile...what can I say, I like the 'Romanesque' fiction of Avram
