Salve Quirites!

Well, I finally have a first draft (beta 1 if you will)
version of the Gens Flacca web site available I'll forewarn everyone
that it is rough and *very* much a work-in-progress. Additional
enhancements, navigational features, external links, etc., etc.
will be available in the future. In the meantime, please
visit us at the following location:

http://home.earthlink.net/~adherbal

Webmasters: Please create the Gens Flacca link on the Active
Families page and link it to this site. Please check back with
us often as we grow our humble site.

Vale Bene,
-Oppius Flaccus Severus

Salvete Omnes;

Congratulations on your appointment Lucia Maria Peregrina! I am certain
you'll do a bang-up job in your new post. I think we need to all get more
face-to-face contact going on the local level (more on that later), and it's
folks like you "on the ground" in the various provinces that can help that
happen.

Congratulations again!

Aletheia Moravia and I shall be absent from today until the 29th, in the wilds of Britannia Septentrionalis, with more wild geese to talk to than people . We shall be in quiet obscurity at Aletheia's parents' villa.

From: "Antonio Grilo" <amg@-------->
Date: Fri, 22 Dec 2000 16:29:18 -0800
Salvete omnes

This is one of the dies comitiales (C), when committees of citizens can vote
on political or criminal matters.

Today is the aniversary of the dedication of the temple of the Lares
Permarinis in Porticu Minucia.
This temple of the Lares who guarded sailors was vowed by L. Aemilius
Regullus while engaged with a navy of Antiochus the Great in 190 BC, and was
dedicated in 179 by M. Aemilius Lepidus (who the next day dedicated temples
to Diana and Juno). A dedicatory inscription in Saturian metre was placed on
its walls. It stood in the Campus Martius, where it was later en closed in
the Porticus Minucia which was build in 110 BC (p. 146). The epithet
Permarini may be the invention of Regullus, who also made a dedication to
the Cabiri of Samothrace after his victory in terms similar to those used by
Lepidus in his dedication."

Today is the sixth day of the Saturnalia.

The month of December is sacred to Vesta.

What legislation is going to be put forward during a period when many
people are away from their computers? Considering the timing, and such
timing it is, the citiznes of Nova Roma should be told immediately.
At least some solid if unofficial, rendering. It would only be fair,
after all is said and done. Right, citizens?

Subject: [novaroma] Roman Coins on eBay ending in less than 24 hours!
From: "Ian Bruce Kupkee, D.V.M." <kupkee@-------->
Date: Sat, 23 Dec 2000 06:54:51 -0500
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Florida Keys! This is the time of year where our dreaded hurricane season seems a reasonable price to pay for avoiding frostbite...

These coins' auctions are due to end tomorrow afternoon. The remaining budget coins are of exceptional quality for the price. I'm selling them off to concentrate on Roman Republic and early Imperial; yes, to buy more coins! Please have a look!

Ian Kupkee,
Key Largo, FL
