I'm sotty, I didn't remember the history of the last race of the Quarters,
the Group G. A "red" race you are watching. The new Italica and Apollo
Victor lash the rival in the circum ... it seems that the red cloath is
blood of the players destroyed!!!

Read the histories of the Quarters at

GROUP G

Leo
driver: Titus Lupercia Silo
by N. Cassius Niger
Race tactic: (1)

Apollo Victor
driver: Afer Magnus
by Tiberius Apollonius Cicatrix
Race tactic: (4)

Italica
driver: Equus Erectus
by Franciscus Apulus Caesar
Race tactic: (6)

Phaeton
driver: Flavius Iaculator
by Gaius Cornelius Ahenobarbus
Race tactic: (1)

1st - Accident!
2nd - Accident!
3th - Italica
4th - Apollo Victor

Go in Semifinal: Italica and Apollo Victor

Great race for the two reds! The goddess Fortuna is playful today. In the
last lap she rewarded with a shock to the blue Phaeton and to the green Leo.
The two were too bold in to turn the curves given to the spina. The first
race without a green chariot in the first positions. Wow!
The blue bad luck has been tremendous in this Ludi. No blue has qualified!

--------------------------
But there has been a "refishing" of two chariots for lack of a group in
quarters. After a drawing, the blue Phaeton and the white Invicta will take
part in the semi-finals.

Franciscus Apulus Caesar Omnibus S.P.D.

It's incredible .... where is the reds? ... where the wonderful and big
army?
The Gods are supporting the Praesina, this is the only reason. The prayers
and the several rituals have helped the greens and we'll look a Final with
an only red against three strong greens.
This Ludi are not of the Blues and the drawed by lot is not so lucky. The
Albata goes up slowly, some white will come in Final during this year?

I announce the start of the Final, the last race of the Ludi Circenses II
edition.

------------------
GROUP I

Flavia Ferrata
driver: Spurius Diocles
by C. Flavius Diocletianus
Race tactic: (1)

Delecta Mea
driver: Scorpianus
by Jullila Sempronia Magna
Race tactic: (5)

Impactus Infrenatus
driver: Malleus Nolens
by Gnaeus Octavius Noricus
Race tactic: (6)

Inexpugnabilis
driver: Ignis
by Caius Curius Saturninus
Race tactic: (1)

1st - Accident!
2nd - Inexpugnabilis
3th - Accident!
4th - Delecta Mea

Goes in Final: Inexpugnabilis

Three greens against a white is an evident abuse. All the public was waiting
for a Flavia Ferrata's great green victory. The wicked driver of Delecta Mea
crushed the white chariot Impactus Infrenatus in the wall of the steps.
Impactus did honor to its name, it was a great impact! Flavia Ferrata
seemed the clear winner, but a wheel of the destroyed white chariot hindered
its way and Flavia Ferrata's horses stumbled and threw to the driver to the
steps, in the white sector. Spurius Diocles was not got well by the white
fans and he had to be saved of the lynching by the pretorian guard. Finally
Inexpugnabilis win the race in hard sprint with Delecta Mea. The greens in
the final!

----------------------
GROUP II

Squalidus
driver: Animus Magnificus
by Ianus Minicius Sparsus
Race tactic: (1)

Aquilifer
driver: Noefequix
by M. Minicius Rufus
Race tactic: (1)

Basilea
driver: Septimius Raurax
by Tiberius Annaeus Otho
Race tactic: (3)

Gladius Albus
driver: Damnator
by Marcus Octavius Solaris
Race tactic: (4)

1st - Aquilifer
2nd - Gladius Albus
3th - Accident!
4th - Basilea

Goes in Final: Aquilifer

Both red chariots dominated the race. But Squalidus hit with the end of the
spina in a curve and its driver fell down on the sand, where he was knocked
down by the wicked Damnator of Gladius Albus. However the weight of
Damnator's evilness retarded the speed of his chariot and allowed
Aquilifer's victory. It is the best chariot of the Russata and finalist
again in the Ludi. The Nova Roma's most regular chariot!
Green Basilea looked like a simple spectator. Its driver had evident
symptoms of green hangover.

----------------------
GROUP III

Essedum
driver: Italus
by Manius Constantinus Serapio
Race tactic: (3)

Rosa Aestás
driver: Via Ira
by Titus Octavius Pius
Race tactic: (1)

Italica
driver: Equus Erectus
by Franciscus Apulus Caesar
Race tactic: (6)

Pollux
driver: Andromeda
by Lucia Ambrosia Valeria
Race tactic: (5)

1st - Accident!
2nd - Essedum
3th - Pollux
4th - Accident!

Goes in Final: Essedum

Andromeda, the pretty driver of the chariot Pollux, a blue "re-fished" in
the last moment, decided to avenge her factio attacking to all the enemy
chariots. Almost she has a total success, because Rosa Aestas broke in
chunks in the wall of the steps after rushing to several stretcher-bearers
and Italica entered as a missile the stables, getting lost in a cloud of
straw and manure. Nevertheless, Pollux did not manage to catch Essedum, the
fast green, which crossed the line of goal for delirium of its fans. Another
green in the final!

----------------------------
GROUP IV

Fulmen Viridis
driver: Nemo Ulysses
by Manius Villius Limitanus
Race tactic: (2)

Attia Clusia
driver: Clodius Rufus
by Appius Arminius Claudianus
Race tactic: (1)

Apollo Victor
driver: Afer Magnus
by Tiberius Apollonius Cicatrix
Race tactic: (4)

Invicta
driver: Gaius Philippus
by Marcus Apulus Caesar
Race tactic: (2)

1st - Accident!
2nd - Accident!
3th - Fulmen Viridis
4th - Invicta

Goes in Final Fulmen Viridis

Two red against one green and one white. But two red with silly enough
drivers. Attia Clusia confused the direction of the race and ran in the
opposite one. It is evident that its driver, Clodius Rufus, was not
recovered of his last party night. On having turned in a curve his chariot
hit with the one of his companion Afer Magnus, who was not walking very
awake either, provoking the laugh in the rival factiones and the
uncontrollable anger of his fans. The green Fulmen Viridis win this mad race
ahead of the white Invicta, that had to avoid the red fans who were chasing
Clodius Rufus on the track.
Three greens in the final!

Salvete,

Hhhmmmm....three works, huh?

Well, I guess they would be the following:

1) The lost books of Tacitus' Histories

2) The lost books of Livy's Histories

3) The lost works of Archimides

Hope that helps. Good question.

Vale!

From: Caeso Fabius Quintilianus <tjalens.h@telia.com>
Date: Fri, 3 May 2002 07:44:59 +0200
Salve Quirites!

Hereby I announce the winner of the Final of the Ludi Florales
Circenses ! The Final was as exciting as each of us could expect!
Congratulations to the winner. :-)

THE FINAL:

Inexpugnabilis
driver: Ignis
by Caius Curius Saturninus
Race tactic: (1)

Aquilifer
driver: Noefequix
by M. Minicius Rufus
Race tactic: (1)

Essedum
driver: Italus
by Manius Constantinus Serapio
Race tactic: (6)

Fulmen Viridis
driver: Nemo Ulysses
by Manius Villius Limitanus
Race tactic: (3)

1st - Essedum
2nd - Accident!
3th - Accident!
4th - Fulmen Viridis

WINNER: ESSEDUM

It is the great final of the Ludi Florales! The steps of the Circus
Maximus are crammed with public, but only there are two colors
shining under the sun: Green and Red. The blue and white fans hide in
their houses for not to suffer the jeers of their rivals.

The race is very favorable for one color. Three greens against the
solitary red chariot. It is not difficult to do bets. But the red is
the great Aquilifer, driven by the veteran Noefequix. The fans of the
factio Russata trusts in its good yield and they encourage strongly
from their seats. The three greens are also expert chariots fought in
many battles on the sand. Essedum, Inexpugnabilis and Fulmen Viridis
are prepared to cover of glory the name of their Factio Praesina and
to cross the most beautiful door of History, that of the victory. Who
will be the chosen one?

The honorable Aedilis Curulis Caeso Fabius Quintilianus asks for a
respectful silence and then he throws the scarf that announces the
beginning of the races.

The horses neigh and the whips begin their dance!

Aquilifer takes the forward. Inexpugnabilis and Essedum treads on the
shade. Fulmen Viridis waits for its chance and does not risk. The red
public shouts jubilantly after the first lap, maybe the miracle is
possible. But the green chariots do not want to stay in ridiculously
before their fans. Inexpugnabilis assumes the risk of hunting
Aquilifer. The driver Ignis lashes mercilessly to his horses while
his chariot turning in the curves with a wheel raised in the air. In
the third lap he is already closely together of Aquilifer, the knob
of his horses breathes heavily in Noefequix's back. The red driver
decides to block the way to him in the following curve. Ignis has to
stop his horses for not to hit, but the speed is too much and they
are very near the rival. The green horses hit with the red chariot!

Noefequix falls down to the sand and Ignis is thrown towards ahead.
He falls on a vestal in the first row, who becomes very nervous and
strikes him with her fan shouting "This is a sacrilege!!"

Essedum is now the first chariot on the sand, followed by Fulmen
Viridis, which relaxes trying to rush to Noefequix, but without
success because the red driver manages to crawl as a bug up to the
edge of the track. A bad day for the reds.

Essedum walked in the last laps receiving the enthusiastic plaudit of
all the green fans. Its driver Italus greets giving kisses to the air
and waving his hands. It is as a triumphal walk! When he crosses the
goal followed by Fulmen Viridis, the sand full of flags and green
scarves while the red fans leave the circus crest-fallen.

The greens win again in the Ludi! The Factio Praesina is the favorite
of the Gods. Will anyone be able to break her squall of victories?

Congratulations to Essedum owned by Manius Constantinus Serapio and
driven by the brave and famous Italus!!!

Last News: The green Ignis has been arrested. He is accused of
"Terrible sacrilege and attempt of sexual harassment on a Vestal" by
vindictive red fans.

Salvete Quirites!

I has been my duty and my pleasure to, with the assistance of my
Cohors Aedilis, give You, the citizens of Nova Roma and the whole Res
Publica a Ludi Florales to greet the summer with. Ludi Florales has
been given to honor the Goddess Flora, as it was in ancient times.

The festival is called forth by the season of the year itself, the
beginning of summer. The season of flowers and the time of
blossoming. The Goddess Flora is beautiful as the season itself and
to honor her is to honor light, warmth, joy and beauty.

During the Ludi Florales we have had a contest in showing Roman
cloths, a contest in horse-racing, a multimedia creation based on the
Award-winning poem "A Tragic Tale" by Illustrus Marcus Minucius
Audens and a "re-creation" of the "Sibilyan Oracle". It is the hope
of my Cohors and myself that You the citizens of Nova Roma have
enjoyed yourselves during the Ludi Floralia. My Cohors and I hereby
thank all who have participated in these Ludi or enjoyed themselves
and the contests.

You are welcome to the next Ludi organized by me, Senior Curule
Aedile Caeso Fabius Quintilianus and my Cohors Aedilis (Caeso Fabius
Q.) in cooperation with the Junior Curule Aedile Illustrus Amulius
Claudius Petrus - the Ludi Romani in September.

I now wish my friend the Junior Plebeian Aedile Illustrus Marcus
Scribonius Curio Britannicus Good Luck in the coming Ludi Vestalia in
June!

Hereby I declare the Ludi Florales of the year of 2755 A.U.C. closed!!!

OK, what's the matter? Have the Blues offended the mighty gods? Tonite,
Blue must file out of Circus Maximus, go up to the Capitoline and feat the
gods. I know, I know, setting out food for twelve statues reclining on
couches might seem archaic, but I tell you cynics that we've got to stop
this streak of bad luck.
