Ave M. Octavius et Omnes,

I just wanted to make some clarifications:

Sulla: My colleague and I at the time were working with 3 individuals
who were interested in the creation of Germania Inferior. However only
one of those individuals meet most of the qualifications to become
propraetor of the provinicia. I can say with complete confidence that
Puteanus was not the individual who was going to get the governorship.
He, and his wife, I might add, did not meet any of the qualifications to
be appointed propraetor. I also want to state for your clarification
that he did not ask us to delay any presentation of the petition to the
Senate.

Sulla: I honestly hope that was no the case, whenever he wrote to me
about it I was very quickly in responding to him and I was completely
honest with him in regards to the status of item. Puteanus knew that he
had two Consuls who were committed to seeing those plans brought before
the Senate. The issue was not delayed because of the Senate, Consuls
but within member(s) of provincia itself. We had the agenda item ready
to go, but was asked to place it on hold and did so per that request.

Sulla: Then lets get a governor in Gallia now. I do not care if that
resident is in the area that will become Germania Inferior, since right
now that area is included in Gallia. Lets get Gallia jump started and
growing and then in the future we can revisit the issue of Germania
Inferior.

Sulla: I am very much aware of the reasons for a split. Puteanus and
others have convinced me that in the future this will need to be done
and you have my support on that. But, at present we must work with the
situation we have. Lets get Gallia growing and productive again first.

Subject: [Nova-Roma] Flavius Aetius

Salvete omnes,

I am looking for information on the general Flavius
Aetius. Can anyone out there tell me what date he was
born (even approximately, close as possible to the
date)? Also, can anyone tell me where he was born, as
I know his father was from Durostorum in Moesia
Secunda?

Any help would be appreciated. If you could also tell
me what the source for the information was, it would
be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Valete bene,

Salvete omnes,

I was wondering if anyone at all out there can give me
a date of birth (or at least an approximation fairly
accurately of when he was born). Also, does anyone
know where he was born? I know his father was from
Durostorum in Moesia Secunda, but was this where
Aetius was born?

Any help at all would be much appreciated. Also, if
there are any sources that list these facts, could you
list them.

Thanks in advance,

Salve!

I am new to this list. I am William MacArthur in the SCA, a medieval
and renaissance recreational group, where I play a 1310 Templar sea
captain turned Scottish Independence fighter. I am also the Patron
for the Society's nautical guild in Meridies, a kingdom in the
Southeast U.S.

I am anxious to learn more about nautical activities in the Roman
era, and in Nova Roma. Are there any members who portray nautical
types, or who otherwise are interested in Roman nautical matters?

William

Salvete omnes,

It's time for the next question. The previous question received many
answers, but the first to answer was Gaius Popillius Laenas, who knew
that the Roman who was Consul most times during the Republic was
Gaius Marius, who was Consul seven times.

He asks: How was Gaius Marius related to Gaius Iulius Caesar?

If you know the answer, please e-mail me at
marcusscribonius@hotmail.com with your answer, your Roman name, and
the question you would like to ask.

Bene valete,
Marcus Scribonius Curio Britannicus.

I just got a mail infected with the klez virus sent to
an address I only use for Nova Roma mail lists, so
it's allmost certain that someone in Nova Roma has an
infected Computer.

The klez virus picks two addresses from your computer
and uses one of them as a fake from address, and sends
an infected file and a random file from your computer
to the other address making it impossible to tell who
has the infected Computer.

If you insist on using an inferior Operating System
that is known for propagating viruses (Windows), then
get a virus dection program and learn how to use it
instead of clogging up other people's mailboxes with
infected files and random garbage that can take up a
considerable portion of mailboxes with a size limit.
This latest virus spam put one of my mailboxes just
short of bouncing mail because of being full.

If you are tired of using a Virus petri dish that
impersonates an operating system, try these links.

Ladies and Gentlemen;

I am pleased to introduce to you a friend of long standing, Master James
McArthur. He is, as he has indicated, been long involved with SCA, and
is also a member of the SCA Nautical List, an organization to which I
was appointed Diplomatic Legate some time ago. He is to my mind an
intelligent gentleman who does excellent research, and has been helpful
to me in the past on the above list in several different venues.

I am pleased to welcome him to the Nova Roma List, and very pleased to
be able to sponsor his request for Citizenship. I have invited him to
join Militarium, due to his naval interest, and I present him to you as
a swordsman of the first class. He may not be immediately familar with
the gladius, but his other skills I am sure will "take up the slack," as
the saying goes. Please welcome to Nova Roma, the application of James
McArthur for Citizenship in our micrnation.

Respectfully;

Marcus Minucius Audens
