Salvete,

It is *wonderful* to hear that the European Rally went well, as did the Ft.
Malden event in Canada just a few days before. Getting to meet 'fellow
Romans' face to face really makes all the 'on line' stuff worth while! :)

There is no doubt that 'live' gatherings will continue to become more and
more common, and that we Nova Romans will have more fun and understand each
other better as a result...

A strong and sincere AVE! To the folks that have taken the time to plan and
organize the recent events!

Valete,

Marcus Cassius Julianus

Yes, it really does. I was unforunately unable to take part on this
meeting, but three weeks ago our censor senator Caius Flavius
Diocletianus with his wife had visited provincia Pannonia. Together
with senator Alexander Iulius Caesar Probus Macedonicus we enjoyed a
beautifull evening and discussed a lot of things. Such personal
meetings giving whole Nova Roma new face. In spite you know that we
are more than just group of roman fans face to face meeting really
converts us from e-mail addresses to living persons.

Salvete!

On Saturday, Marcus Octavius Solaris and myself joined
the others at the meeting in Tongeren, Belgium. I
really had a wonderful day viewing and visiting all
kind of Roman things, and of course talking and
discussing different subjects as well as having a good
laugh (isn't it, Caeso?). I really enjoyed the whole
day and look forward to another meeting in the future!

Of course many thanks to the people who made it such a
wonderful meeting:
Diana Apollonia Aventina
Caius Curius Saturninus
Emilia Curia Finnica
Caeso Fabius Quintilianus

And also many thanks to the other people who attended,
and who made it a very nice meeting:
Marcus Octavius Solaris
Manius Constantinus Serapio
Sextus Apollonius Scipio and his son Kevin (I could
have beaten him in that swordfight, you know...)
Lucius Salix Cicero
and the "barbarians" who joined us on Diana's
invitation, and who guided us around the town.

It has been a great day, thank you all!!!

Valete bene

Salvete omnes,

I am at the moment almost drowning in work. Apart from translations for
German, since I am the official translator for that language, I am also
writing a paper for the university.

The title is: Iulius Caesar, the founder of modern tactics????

If anyone can help me on this, I would be very happy, if you could mail
me on: thomas.hanzi@bluewin.ch

I have found considerable amounts of material, but all of that is so 'on
the top' of my question, that I thought, there might be someone here, who
specializes in military history and can help me out.

Thank you all for your messages and your help.

Salvete omnes,

The recent rally in Tongeren was a complete success, I was made very welcome by the other participants and enjoyed their company very much.
I want to thank in particular, Caeso Fabius Quintilianus, Caius Curius Saturninus, Emilia Curia Finnica and Diana Apollonia Aventina for organising the rally which all Nova Romans should be proud of.
My thanks also got to Manius Constantinus Serapio and the Provincia Italia for the wonderful cd.
My thanks also to the other participants:
Sextus Apollonius Scipio and his son.
Marcus Octavius Solaris
Tiberius Apollonius Cicatrix
Last but not least, thanks to Diana Apollonia Aventina's friends from the Pagan Federation, they all added to the events success and hopefully some of them will decide to join Nova Roma :-).

Thank you

Salvete Omnes,

Thank you very much to the Cohors Aedile Caeso Fabius Quintilianus for the wonderful week end that they have so well organized and for their company. Thank you as well for those who have joined the meeting. We had a lot of different countries being represented (Sweden, Finland, England, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy and France...) and even so we all felt being Roman...

I am just amazed by how much have been done in Nova Roma during the recent months and most particularly in Provinciae Thules and Italia. Thank you to our Italian fellows for the CD they gave us. (Dominus Praefectus Manius Constantinus Serapio, I cannot still understand how you could find so much time in a day...)

The city of Tongeren, although quite small, is filled in by Roman remains and culture. Some of the materials exposed in the Roman Museum were quite exceptionnal. The roman stew we had Saturday night was excellent and so were the costumes (Yes, Diana, next time I will have one...)

I have had as well the pleasure to meet my Paterfamilias (who is in fact a grand father, but he does not look his age...) and Marcus Octavius Solaris with who I had good chats. ;^ )

We all had good discussions about Nova Roma and sometimes quite late (was it 2 or 3AM ?). Needless to say that such a meeting is quite informative and productive and we cannot wait for the next one.

My last words will be to say that Nova Roma has definitely a soul on which grand projects could be built.

From: Marcus Vitellius Ligus <mvitelliusligus@yahoo.com>

The below notice has been posted onto the Roman Army Talk ezboard and outlines an outstanding reproduction of Roman Music. It is on CD and Rusty has generously offered to be the go-between for no mark-up to get this wonderful music to the UNites States and Canada. I am posting this here as a FYI for all Nova-Romans.

We have had a number of people ask us about the Roman CD by David Marshall we have information on in the Legion Armory website. Since like you, we want some too, and since he only accepts orders in pounds Sterling by check, we would like to put together a big order to send all at once. Basically the cost is 16 GBP which is roughly $26 USD to get it to the states. Shipping cost once we get it here is approximately $2 per CD. So the total cost for one CD will be $28. ANY overage from money saved for shipping will be donated to the RAT Community chest and the Legion Armory will not make any money on this.

If you would like to order, you must mail check or money order in USD for $28 (Canadian Legions add $2 for the extra postage). Monies must be recieved by September 17, 2002 for this order. If you must use paypal, you can, but add 3%, (truthfully it will be easier if we keep these monies seperate from Legion Armory accounts completely).

I would estimate delivery by the end of October at the latest.

Add $2 for us to ship to everyone in the states!

Send your order and money to:

Legion Armory c/o Somnia CD
1700 Misty Ct, Hanahan, SC 29406-8560 USA
(843) 437-5587

Visit the Legion Armory Roman Music page (which Mr. Marshall allowed us to copy in detail from his web page) to read up and even LISTEN to MP3's from the cd or visit David's homepage at: http://www.ancestral.co.uk/romanmusic.htm

No way! He could have won easily if he just gave you a quick stab or two in
the knees (he had the perfect height for that, you know:-)

Thank Goddess that attended the Rally!we ouwld still be lost walking in
circles on the Beukenberg Aqueduct. Those "barbarians" knew more about the
local Roman culture than we did! But luckily I will be moving to that area
in 2 months, so I'll have a chance to become our "local expert":-)
