As a member of the Comitia Curiata, I witness the appointments of

Gaius Iulius Iulianus, Flamen Florealis
Gaius Minucius Hadrianus, Sacerdotes Minerva
Diana Moravia Aventina, Sacerdotes Venus

I do this with great pleasure, as I have come to know and respect each
of these individuals as knowledgeable, dignified and worthy. I
particularly welcome Hadrianus in joining the priesthood of my patron
goddess.

No, you're not being moderated. I, too, would like to know the answers
to the questions you've asked about chariot racing. I do know that the
greens were a favorite of the emperor Gaius (aka Caligula). The site
put together for this year's virtual chariot races has some information
on it, but I haven't had a chance to read it and I don't remember the
URL offhand.

There was actually a webpage for each set of Ludi Circinses. The
most recent was for the Ludi Victoria, at:

http://italia.novaroma.org/cohorsaedilis/ludi/victoria/mvc.htm

There's also a website for each factio, including my own ill-
stared Albata:

http://italia.novaroma.org/cohorsaedilis/ludi/factio/albata/index.htm

You can substitute russata, praesina, or veneta where albata
appears in that URL to read the other factios' websites.

Since I've now changed the subject line, perhaps my colleague and
the man behind the virtual chariot races, Franciscus Apulus Caesar,
will jump in to tell us more.

Congrats Diana!!!!! That is a most resounding victory and a big
expression of trust in you from the Plebejans ! From my view this is
the best choice posssible for Senior Tribune of the Tribunes Bench (I
am all for women breaking the glass ceiling)!

I still hope I can join you there next year as I will not give up my
candidacy. I therefore humbly ask the Plebejans to vote for me in the
upcoming elections.

Salvete Omnes,

I would like to thank all those who have sent encouraging messages concerning our 2 years
old little boy, Lukas. He had a violent allergic reaction to some sort of nuts. It was a
very traumatic experience that will change our life forever. Some images will never be
forgotten. This kind of illness although lethal can rather easily be handled. A strict
diet and a ban of all nuts will do the job. We should be thankful that we still have the
initiative, not everybody has this chance.
For the time being, I will spend most of time reading medical reports and testimonies and
visiting doctors and specialists. We have to know exactly what kind of allergy he has and
to which extent.
As soon as this is achieved, we will settle our new life and things will come back to
almost normal. I do not think this change will be that dificult for our family. My wife
is already a "food checking freak"!!
So you may understand that my activity within Nova Roma will suffer a bit for the weeks
to come. However, all the goals that have been set remain unchanged.
Thank you for your attention.

Valete,

I Would reccomend that you remember that peanut oil is

You would not believe how much nuts are used. Bean bags, paint, crayons, chemicals...
And the list always gets longer!!
The rate of allergic people compared to the total population is about 6-8% and it keeps
on growing. Just incredible.

Salvete everyone,

I would like to thank everyone who voted for me and also everyone who didn't
vote for me for their participation in this election. I am very much in
shock that I won over such excellent competition.

My warmest congratulations to those who won and my utmost respect to the
excellent candidates who ran and didn't win.

It is easy to win gracefully, but to not win and do so in a dignified and
friendly way is not as easy. I have really found it heartwarming every time
I read an email from someone who didn't win the elections, but who quite
honorably and congenially congratulated the winners.

And it is a shame that a few people unsubscribe from the mainlist whenever a
bit of bickering takes place. If they would just stay (and temporarily make
use of their delete button), they would see that Nova Roma is made up of a
group of excellent and kind hearted people!

Valete,
Diana Moravia Aventina

Is the candidacy now open to others, or are we going just from the
earlier list? The way the voting was set up was a bit confusing, but
I voted for more than one, I'm sure! :-) Just wondering if the "new"
people over 21 with less than 6 months in are now eligable, and those
under 21 but here more than 6 months are now eligable to be nominated
to be entered into the lists or not. Thanks.

Salvete!

I read this post on the AncientMed list... It is
certainly worth sharing:

THE QUESTION:
How many internet mail list subscribers does it take
to change a light bulb?

ANSWER:
1,331:

1 to change the light bulb and to post to the mail
list that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light
bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed
differently.

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light
bulbs.

27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about
changing light bulbs.

53 to flame the spell checkers

156 to write to the list administrator complaining
about the light bulb discussion and its
inappropriateness to this mail list.

41 to correct spelling in the spelling/grammar flames.

109 to post that this list is not about light bulbs
and to please take this email exchange to
alt.lite.bulb

203 to demand that cross posting to alt.grammar,
alt.spelling and alt.punctuation about changing light
bulbs be stopped.

111 to defend the posting to this list saying that we
are all use light bulbs and therefore the posts
**are** relevant to this mail list.

306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is
superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what
brand of light bulbs work best for this technique, and
what brands are faulty.

27 to post URLs where one can see examples of
different light bulbs

14 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly, and
to post corrected URLs.

3 to post about links they found from the URLs that
are relevant to this list which makes light bulbs
relevant to this list.

33 to concatenate all posts to date, then quote them
including all headers and footers, and then add "Me
Too."

12 to post to the list that they are unsubscribing
because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.

19 to quote the "Me Too's" to say, "Me Three."

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ.

1 to propose new alt.change.lite.bulb newsgroup.

47 to say this is just what alt.physic.cold_fusion was
meant for, leave it here.

143 votes for alt.lite.bulb.

Salvete Quirites!

Just a couple of comments.

Lucius Equitius: I'm pleased to hear that things turned out as well as could
be hoped for your son and you Sextus Apollonius. Also, it is a good thing
that you know what the problem is and what needs to be done.
It's a horrible thing to have something go wrong with one's child. I pray
every day and night for the health and safety of my kids.

I can sympythize with your son because I have had a
severe allergic reaction, though my allergin
(Penicillin) is far easier to avoid than nuts. It was
allmost two weeks before I fully recovered from that
exposure.

Valete, Diana Moravia Aventina

Subject: [Nova-Roma] Praetors Race
From: "gaiuspopilliuslaenas" <ksterne@bellsouth.net>
Date: Wed, 27 Nov 2002 15:36:31 -0000
Salvete Luci Sicini et Quirites,

I am sorry to see my friend Lucius Sicinius Drusus withdraw from the
race for Praetor. Drusus is truly one of Nova Roma's most dedicated
and valuable contributors, although he seldom seeks recognition.
However, I do believe his withdrawal is for good reason - to support
the honorable Decius Iunius Palladius Invictus.

Decius Iunius has served as Senator, Censor, Consul, and Praetor.
He is deeply grounded in the history, goals, and vision of Nova Roma
having been here from very early, if not from the very beginning.
He is a also a great student of the law and Roman history.

As Nova Roma grows and evolves, it it ever more important to have
this sense of grounding to provide balance in our senior
magistracies.

All of the candidates for Praetor are honorable and capable.
However, I ask you to support Decius Iunius Palladius Invictus in
the run off.

Valete,
Gaius Popillius Laenas
