The Tabularium was built by Lucius Cornelius Sulla "Felix," dictator 83-80 BCE. It was designed as a monument to Rome's Bureaucracy. It housed the laws, Edicts, and Treaties Rome's Magistrates produced. The Tabularium or Hall of Records on the west end of theforum housed the state archives.
