LEX IVNIA DE MAGISTRATVVM AETATE
This law shall regulate the minimum age a person may hold specific magistracies.
- No person may assume the office of censor or consul until he or she
has reached the age of 27.
- No person may assume the office of praetor or tribune of the plebs
until he or she has reached the age of 25.
- No person may assume the office of quaestor, aedile, or be
appointed to the position of provincial governor, until he or she has
reached the age of 21.
- No person shall assume any office of the Vigintisexviri until he or
she has reached the age of 21.
- This law shall regulate only those people who assume any of the
aforementioned offices after January 2, 2000 C.E. Any person holding one
of the aforementioned positions at the time of the passage of this law or
currently running for one of the regulated positions shall be exempt from
its provisions for the remainder of his or her current term.
- An exemption to this law may be granted to a person by the approval
of both censors and a senatus consultum approved by a two thirds majority
vote.
