Governor: a person appointed by the Senate to oversee the daily handling of a province. The articles in this category list the citizens of Nova Roma who are or have been provincial governors. There are four different titles for governors:

Consul

  • A person governing a province who is a currently sitting consul.

Praetor

Praetrix (fem.)
  • A person governing a province who is a currently sitting praetor.
  • A person governing a province who is in their first term of governing their province.

Proconsul (or Pro consule)

  • A person governing a province who has previously been, but is not currently, a consul. This person is governing the province in the place of a consul, and thus could be said to be governing the province pro consule.

Propraetor (or Pro praetore)

Propraetrix (fem.)
  • A person governing a province who has previously been, but is not currently, a praetor. This person is governing the province in the place of a praetor, and thus could be said to be governing the province pro praetore.
  • A person governing a province who is in their second or other successive term of governing their province (other than a previous or current consul).
