Annual Provincial Report to the Senate of Nova Roma
Prepared by Quintus Caecilius Metellus Pius Postumianus
Legatus pro Praetore, Provincia Lacus Magni
Submitted Kal. Nov. MMDCCLXII a.u.c.

Contents

Introductory Remarks

It is much to my dismay that this year was not as productive as I would have hoped. However, the province has undertakings that have begun, and I have additional planned undertakings for this province. That said, though this year may not have been as productive as I would have hoped, I foresee that the coming year will not be as unproductive.

I have tried, in forming this report, to explain the position of my province as best I see it; given the unavailability of the Album Civium for quite some time, being able to provide exact demographics has proven difficult, and I therefore acknowledge that the numbers presented here may be slightly incorrect, but I do not estimate them to be any more incorrect than 5% in either direction. That said, I submit the below as my report on the status of the Provincia Lacus Magni as of the Kalends of November, MMDCCLXII a.u.c.

Demographics

Lacus Magni is home to 49 citizens. Of those, five (10%) currently hold magisterial office, three (6%) hold sacred office, and three hold provincial office. Ten (20%) are tax-paying citizens.

The Chicago, IL metropolitan area plays host to the largest concentration of citizens, with 6 (12%); following that, the Columbus, OH metropolitan area houses four citizens, and the Cincinnati, OH area houses three.[1]

Provincial Activities

Though the province has not undertaken any activities offline this year, I intend that it will do so by the end of the second quarter of next year. The province is currently investigating the feasibility of a provincial library, and other such information networks.

We are also working on the development of the provincial cultus. At present, the province has begun the business of developing a provincial calendar, after which we will draft the rites and ceremonies for the observances listed therein. Other contingent items will equally be investigated.

Finances

The financial situation of the province has not been released to me as of the date of this report, and therefore I am unable to make any firm statements on it here. The province has made no changes, however, to the provincial finances, in the way of requesting disbursements from it, or making specific contributions to it (aside from the paying of the annual tax). For the coming year, there are no plans which would require disbursements from the provincial treasury, though that is naturally subject to change as things are later planned.

Continuations

As I am aware of a pending move during the later half of the coming year, it would be inappropriate for me to ask to be prorogued, only to need to resign from the position later. With that said, however, I am willing, and would like, to continue governing the province until that time arrives. During that time, I will also work to find an individual to succeed me in the position, to help alleviate the burden on the Senate to find such an individual, and to help prevent a lapse in governance of the province.

Final Remarks

In submitting this report to the Senate, I affirm that the information herein is accurate to the best of my knowledge. Should I become aware of any inaccuracies herein, I shall both correct the inaccuracy and inform the Senate as soon as I am made aware. I have been grateful for the opportunity to serve my fellow citizens, and I hope for the opportunity to continue the work I have began.

Respectfully Submitted,

Quintus Caecilius Metellus Pius Postumianus
