Opening Remarks

Q. Arrius Nauta consul senatui populoque Novo Romano SPD

Fellow citizen, by this senate session, by the SENATUS CONSULTUM DE RE PUBLICA RESTITUENDA, our republic is dully restored, the state of emergency is revoked, crisis is over, peace is declared and normal republican procedure is reinstated! Celebrate this New Year's Eve in the greatest Roman Joy and Roman Pride! As an award to our victorious generals, the imperatorial acclamations have been recognized to Imperator Cn. Cornelius Lentulus pro praetore, Imperator P. Porcius Licinus pro praetore, Imperator S. Lucilius Tutor proconsul and Imperator T. Domitius Draco proconsul (pending). The senate granted the first ever real modern triumphs to be celebrated to Cn. Cornelius Lentulus Imperator, two times, to P. Porcius Licinus Imperator, one time, and the right to celebrate an ovatio to S. Lucilius Tutor Imperator and to T. Domitius Draco Imperator (pending). Congratulations to the imperators, and congratulations for the triumphs and ovationes! We are looking forward to see the spectacle!

To conclude everything and to recognize the paramount leadership and total sum of work of Cn. Cornelius Lentulus and P. Porcius Licinus in saving Nova Roma from annihilation, and in saving the Roman lives and citizenship of the victims of the coup and subsequent tyranny, the disenfranchised and outlawed citizens exiled by Caesar and Sulla, the senate, by the motion of the saved citizens, awarded Lentulus and Licinus the corona civica, the oak leaves crown, according to the mos maiorum, as part of Roman tradition. Congratulations to Cn. Lentulus and P. Licinus, for the highest honor, the corona civica!

Consular Auspices

The auspices were taken in the name of the Consul by pontifex Cn. Cornelius Lentulus upon the standing authorization by augur C. Claudius Quadratus, and were favorable.

Consular Opening and Closing Ceremony

The Senate session was ritually opened and closed by a sacrificial ceremony by pontifex Cn. Cornelius Lentulus, in behalf of Consul Q. Arrius Nauta.

Quorum

The Senate of Nova Roma currently has 16 voting members which gives a minimum quorum of 11 voting members. With 15 senate members present and with 1 present through proxy, the QUORUM IS ACHIEVED.

Proxy - Gaius Petronius Dexter is on Leave - his Proxy is assigned to Sextus Lucilius Tutor - therefore, as per XI.J of the SENATUS CONSULTUM DE RATIONE SENATUS MMDCCLXV, he is deemed present.
