(Proposed by Flavius Vedius Germanicus 7/17/98. Deadline 7/20/98. Approved without dissenting votes 7/17/98.)
Since Flavia Claudia Juliana has volunteered to take over the position of editor of the
newsletter, I would like at this time
to ask that the Senate officially appoint her as Curatrix Aquila. She has experience
producing newsletters, has published
many books (both on paganism and in more mainstream genres), and has the drive and energy
to really turn The Eagle into something grand.
Part of my doing this is also to establish the precident of appointing
"Curatores"; in the late Republic, such appointments
were made to take care of specific projects like the building of roads and aqueducts. I
think this is a perfect modern adaptation of the practice.
I ask that the Senate confirm her appointment to this post by the 20th day of this month,
as she will need a lot of lead time
to take over publication of the August issue.
