The '''Legio X Fretensis''' of our [[Provincia Australia (Nova Roma)|Provincia Australia]] is an Allied Military Reenactment Unit of Nova Roma, and includes the 2nd Cohort which is an Autonomous Military Reenactment Unit of Nova Roma.

Legio X Fretensis is maintained by the '''[https://www.ancientrrv.com Ancient Roman Re-enactors Victoria ]''', an incorporated Australian not-for-profit organization based in Melbourne, Australia. The legion was founded in {{2016}} (December 2016). In January {{2017}} (2017), prominent Nova Roman [[Gaius Sempronius Scepsis Agricola (Nova Roma)|C. Sempronius Scepsis Agricola]] joined the Legion and is currently the Aquilifer. [[Gaius Sempronius Scepsis Agricola (Nova Roma)|C. Sempronius]] is also the Praefectus Cohortis, Cohort II - Legio X Fretensis.

The partnership with Legio X is documented with the [[:File:MEMORANDUM_OF_UNDERSTANDING_-_NR-ARRV_v2.0_redacted.pdf|Memorandum of Understanding between Nova Roma and Ancient Roman Reenactors Victoria]]. The unit officially became an Allied legion under ''[[Provincia_Australia_-_Praetorium_(Nova_Roma)|Edictum 73.02 - Edictum Proprætorium de societate cum Legione X Fretensi Australiana]]'', with the Autonomous Reenactment Unit, number II Cohort, being established under ''[[Provincia_Australia_-_Praetorium_(Nova_Roma)|Edictum 74.01 - Edictum de Creationibus Cohortis II Legionis X Fretensis]]''.

== Command ==

The ceremonial supreme commanders of all legions within Nova Roma are the ''[[Consul (Nova Roma)|consules]]'' of Nova Roma, and the ''[[Praetor (Nova Roma)|praetores]]'' are the vice-supreme commanders. The provincial ceremonial commander-in-chief of the Legio X Fretensis (and all other legionary units in Provincia Australia), is the [[Governor (Nova Roma)|governor]] of [[Provincia Australia (Nova Roma)|Provincia Australia]], the propraetor [[Decimus Aurelius Ingeniarius (Nova Roma)|D. Aurelius Ingeniarius]].

The actual commander of the allied Legio X Fretensis, as the highest-ranking officer within the legion, is the Centurio M. Claudius Calvus. He exercises command in conjunction with his subordinate operational commanders.
