Nobilis ("noble", "well-known" lat.) is a person whose ancestors held curule magistracy. In Nova Roma, we consider ancestors not only the direct genetical lineage of a citizen, but also those ancient Romans who belonged to the same family indicated by nomen and cognomen combination.
