The founding of Nova Roma was prepared by five gentes, the patrician gens Cassia, gens Vedia, gens Iunia, gens Maria and the plebeian gens Caecilia. The primary founders of Nova Roma were M. Cassius Iulianus, Fl. Vedius Germanicus, Dec. Iunius Palladius, but instrumental to the founding was C. Iulius Iulianus, who put Cassius and Vedius in contact with each other. However, by the time of the Foundation Day, on the Kal. The gentes as of 21 April, 1998
The records are incomplete about these earliest months of Nova Roma, but we can be sure that only those citizens belonged to Nova Roma until the first Parilia (Birthday of Rome, 21 April) of Nova Roma who wore the following nomina gentilicia. These are the first 31 gentes created in Nova Roma, all of which were patrician by default due to being founding gentes, except the gens Caecilia, which requested to be plebeian at the time of the founding of Nova Roma so that the plebeian element be present at the founding.
This list is supposed to be in chronological order, according to the date of the registration of the gens in Nova Roma. There are uncertainties about this claim due to the incomplete records of the early months of Nova Roma, so this claim should be taken carefully:
