Greek philosopher, founder of the school of Epicureanism.
His disciples were Metrodorus, Hemarchus Leontius, Themista, Leontion both women, Mys, his slave and many others. Women and slaves were permitted to attend the Garden (κηπος).
Later heads of the Epicurean school in Athens were:
