On July 3, 1998 (a.d. V Non. Quin. ‡ Fl. Vedio M. Cassio cos. ‡ MMDCCLI a.u.c.), Scipio Hyeanus Africanus (Nova Roma) Scipio Hyeanus Africanus was appointed governor. He wrote to Consul Flavius Vedius Germanicus (Nova Roma) Flavius Vedius Germanicus: "Rome was not built in a day, and neither is a Provincea, but it is a thing I desire most, and will dedicate myself to it, I already have printed out the leaflets the site has to offer, I am working on a gentes web site so that others may know and be a part of. and if possible, would like to look into getting the Nova Roman flag made. I would accept any responsibility that the office would require, and do appreciate your aid." It is not clear how long Africanus remained in office, but the office is listed as vacant in the next year.
