The Praetorium is the government of Provincia America Austroccidentalis. It consists of the governor and his or her appointed assistants and advisors. The Legati are executive officers appointed by the governor who, by gubernatorial edict, have the authority to act on the behalf of the governor within their sphere of competence. The Sacerdos Provinciae shares ritual responsibility for the cultus Deorum within the province.

Pursuant to the laws of Nova Roma (namely, the lex constitutiua, Paragraph V.C. Sections 2-4), to provide a clear basis for actions taken by the appointed officials of the province, I decree that:

  1. the office of Legatus or Legata (as appropriate) shall be considered an office of the second rank, with respect the the Lex Fabia Centuriata, and shall be an executive position;
    1. the holder of said office shall have the authority to issue edicta binding on the citizens of this province, subordinate to those of the governor, within their sphere of competence; and,
    2. the holder of said office shall also have the authority to act on the behalf of the governor when dealing with entities both within and outside the province, subject to being overruled by the governor;
  2. the office of Sacerdos Provinciae shall be treated solely as the same under the aforementioned Lex Fabia, and shall be a non-executive position, having ritual responsibility for the cultus deorum within the province, as shared with the governor;
  3. the office of Scriba Provincialis shall be considered an office of the fourth rank, and shall be a non-executive position within the province, reporting directly to the governor;
  4. no oath shall be required of any provincial office; and,
  5. this edict shall take effect immediately upon its publication.

Pursuant to the laws of Nova Roma (namely, the lex constitutiua, Paragraph V.C. Sections 2-4), in order to facilitate the continued smooth operation of the oppidum in question, I decree the following:

  1. for the sole purpose of organising and overseeing elections for the oppidum Fluminis Gilae, Vibia Cornelia Merula is appointed dictatrix pro tempore;
  2. such appointment shall last from the Ides of April to the sooner of the Ides of May or the election of at least two aediles oppidi; and,
  3. no oath shall be required for this temporary post.
