General Commentary

The proposing consul introduced this rogatio to the comitia saying:

"This lex proposes modification to the Lex Cornelia Octavia De Assuidi et Capti Censi."
(Message 40518 in the archives of Nova-Roma@yahoogroups.com)

In fact, however, the lex goes further than merely modifying the lex Cornelia Octavia, for it completely supercedes it and must be taken to have repealed it by implication; it also completely supercedes the lex Vedia de assiduis et capite censis which the lex Cornelia Octavia followed and partly amended, and must be taken to have repealed that lex also.

Lex Vedia tributorum?

The lex contains a reference to the lex Vedia tributorum but there is no such lex in the tabularium. What is that it refers to? --Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus 12:43, 27 January 2009 (CET)

AURELIUS: The lex page states that it is still in force when the List of all passed laws states it has been 'merged' into the constitution. However, I note that this is NOT explicitly stated anywhere.

Recommendation: Update the status of the law accordingly to reflect the 'merge'. --Decimus Aurelius Ingeniarius 06:45, 16 October 2021 (CEST)
