The text is originally from the bronze pillars in front of the Mausoleum of Augustus at Rome. The text we have is from the Monumentum Ancyranum, the Temple of Augustus and Rome in Ankara, Turkey. The Latin text was inscribed on the outside of the building and the Greek text is inscribed on a wall of the cella.

Other sites that preserve fragmants of the text are:

  • Monumentum Antiochenum.
  • Monumantum Apolloniense.
