Article name

Should this be moved to "Sacerdotes (Nova Roma)"? Or should we keep "Sacerdotes" as an article about sacerdotes in Roma Antiqua and use the English title (plus NR) for the modern article? Agricola 10:56, 8 November 2006 (CET)

I would, personally, rather we use "Sacerdotes (Nova Roma)" for the title. However, Cn. Astur made a good argument some time ago about using the title "priests", albeit one with which I disagree. That's not to say, though, that we can't make the current page a redirection page, and similarly with the same for Antiquity. Metellus 03:50, 10 November 2006 (CET)
My preference for wiki policy is that the articles have Latin titles and the vernacular terms are redirects to them. This would mean that the translation links ("language bar") would point directly to the translated article, not to an intermediate redirect. I don't know if that would reduce server load, but I think it sets things up in such a way as to avoid proliferation of double redirects. Additionally, using Latin titles is one way that we can promote and teach the use of Latin. I would like to hear what Astur has to say because it may be that this article should be an exception. It seems that we never managed to get back to this one, but I would have to agree with the preceding response. It seems the best method, and an excellent way to promote Latin, even if only one word at a time (Is there any other way?). This page would certainly likely be best as "Sacerdotes (Nova Roma)", with the respective links in the language bar changed overall. Q·CAEC·MET·POST 10:02, 4 January 2009 (CET)
I'm also fully in favor of that. Quintus Valerius Poplicola 07:29, 5 January 2009 (CET)
Last year Agricola decided another policy, namely to use always titles in the same languages as that of the articles. In view of that, he changed Tabularium into Legal system, Lingua Latina into Latin language, Roma Antiqua into Ancient Rome, Religio Romana into Roman religion etc. Are we discussing about reverting this one year policy in all? I disagreed with Agricola, but finally I came into peace and worked with these guidelines. Now everything revolves? I don't know what to think on the proposed name change now: either we change the most possible titles into Latin or not that one. --Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus 12:11, 5 January 2009 (CET)
That certainly is a sensible policy. I wasn't aware of that policy, but I can see the sound reasoning behind it. In that case, Priests would be best here, Sacerdotes best in Latin. -- Q·CAEC·MET·POST 20:42, 5 January 2009 (CET)
