Per the lex Equitia de tirocinio civium novorum all new citizens of Nova Roma shall be subject to a probationary period of at least 90 days, during which they will not be allowed the iura publica, the right to vote and to stand for any public office. The probationary period will end when 90 days have passed and the new citizen has taken and passed a simple examination covering elementary matters of Nova Roman citizenship and basic Roman history, religion, language, and social practices.
If you haven't yet read over the Nova Roma website, we suggest you do so before becoming a citizen. Note particularly our Constitution and Frequently Asked Questions pages.
How to apply for Nova Roman citizenship
Application is done by sending an e-mail to <novaromacitizenship@gmail.com>
- Step 1. Learn about choosing a Roman name, and select your proper Roman praenomen, nomen and cognomen following the guidelines. If you need help in this, contact the censores.
- Step 2. Copy the Citizenship Application Form that you can see below within the red frame, paste it into the e-mail that you are going to send to apply for Nova Roman citizenship, and fill it with your answers. All points must be answered.
- Step 3. If you have fully completed the Citizenship Application Form, send it in e-mail to the novaromacitizenship@gmail.com address.
If you have already submitted an application and need to make changes to your name, gens, or other information, do not use this form. Instead, send email to the censores.

Article II.A.3 of the Constitution of Nova Roma reads: "Citizenship is open to anyone regardless of ethnic heritage, gender, religious affiliation, or sexual orientation." By order of the censores and consules of MMDCCLIX, prospective citizens must affirm these statements by including them into the citizenship application e-mail:
