The Societas Via Romana ("Society of the Roman Way") was a multicultural, creative and organic society that celebrated the legacy of the classical world. The SVR began Fl. Vedio (II) M. Cassio (II) cos. MMDCCLIV a.u.c. as a beak-away group with an initial membership largely composed of Nova Roman citizens and former citizens, many of whom had been members of the amici dignitatis.

The SVR was composed of collegia devoted to exploring particular aspects of Roman and Mediterranean history, culture and daily life. It was initially administered by consuls, but it soon renounced about the state-aspect, and it became led by a board of three to seven curatores and an informal senate. The SVR has participated in at least one event with Nova Roma, and most of its active members were members of both organisations.

Ten years after its founding, the Society ceased functioning as most of its active members returned to Nova Roma. Its official website was last updated in 2010, and its original official forum stopped functioning that year. The SVR forum communication was migrated to Google Groups around the same time.

Some minimal discussions continued to occur until 2016-2017. The organization has been effectively defunct since that time.
