BIOGRAPHY

Roman sites visited by Scepsis Agricola
In his home country, Australia, Scepsis Agricola earned his Post Graduate Diploma in International Trade. Whilst always having an affinity with the land, being the son of an immigrant Italian farmer, he lived the first 18 years of life on a vineyard in rural Victoria, Australia. It wasn’t until 2010 that Scepsis Agricola’s interest in the ancient Roman Republic was awakened. Commencing with private reading and research of Roman military history and leaders, Scepsis Agricola has also studied specific online courses including “Hadrian's Wall: Life on the Roman Frontier” by the UK’s Newcastle University, “The Fall of the Roman Republic” by Colorado State University and “Archaeology of Portus” University of Southampton.
Scepsis Agricola - Legio X Aquilifer

In 2015, Scepsis Agricola visited Rome for the first time and felt an instant connection, resulting in him making the 23 hour long pilgrimage from Melbourne, Australia, to Rome again in 2016 spending a week in the Italian capitol, 300 meters from the ancient Forum. Scepsis Agricola has the ambition of visiting as many Roman archaeological sites as possible in his lifetime.

In 2017, Scepsis Agricola joined the newly founded Roman reenactment group Ancient Roman Re-enactors Victoria (ARRV) and assumed the administrative role of Treasurer. Drawn to the military arm of ARRV, Legio X Fretensis, Scepsis Agricola quickly rose to the rank of Aquilifer. Under his guidance and leadership, ARRV grew to become a multidimensional representation of Ancient Rome, including civilian as well as military aspects. ARRV's commitment to historical accuracy has enabled the group to host civilian and military living history displays. ARRV was welcomed by the National Museum of Australia in January 2019 to form a supplementary part of the feature British Museum exhibit "Rome: City and Empire". Under Scepsis Agricola's contribution and drive, ARRV established a cooperative arrangement with the Faculty of Arts from Australia's leading university, [//https://youtu.be/80jYxWD19S8/The University of Melbourne], to establish a living history display to promote their Ancient World Studies course to prospective future students.

In late 2019 Scepsis Agricola met with D. Aurelius Ingeniarius, Legatus Pro Praetore Australiae of Provincia Australia, who introduced him to Nova Roma and in March 2020 he became a citizen. Since joining, Scepsis Agricola has been diligently working under the direction of the Legatus Pro Praetore in re-organising the civic life and promoting activity of Nova Roman Provincia Australia.
