M. Mucius Scaevola Magister was among the earliest citizens of Nova Roma. He was the first British citizen to hold an ordinary magistracy and later became the first British senator.

M. Scaevola was one of the foremost iuris periti of his time, and gave opinions on many matters of public law, in particular during the legal uncertainties of the tumultus, in which he was caught up, and the subsequent dictatura.

He was among those who left Nova Roma Id. Mar. Fl. Vedio (II) M. Cassio (II) cos. MMDCCLIV a.u.c..

  1. There is some doubt surrounding M. Scaevola's election to this office. The announcement of results indicates that the election was tied between Scaevola and Q. Iulius Camillus Caesar; if so, neither was elected. In that case, however, there ought to have been a further election, but no such election is recorded, and Scaevola is to be found later that year performing the duties of rogator. It seems, then, that he did obtain the office, but it remains unclear how he did so.
