Revision as of 22:27, 1 March 2007
I suggest we make a policy that the language bar always be the very first item on the page. After all, a chage in language should change ALL the content, but placing content above the language bar seems to imply the the above-the-bar content will be immune from change. M. Lucretius Agricola 10:29, 9 April 2006 (CDT)
- Alternatively, and after looking at how Wikipedia (except the English edition) deals with languages (cf. German Wikipedia, Spanish Wikipedia, etc.), we could put the languages option as a box on the left hand side column, under navigation, search and toolbox. But see my considerations about the language bar too. A. Gratius Avitus 17:58, 4 July 2006 (CDT)
Conventus
Could we add a link to V Conventus Novae Romae in the "Current Events" box to encourage people to come? Cordus 12:02, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
- Sure; you're an admin, you can just go ahead and do it. The template used for this on the main page is Template:Current Events Shortlist. Marcus Octavius Germanicus(t) 14:09, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
Banners and colors
Do we really need a gold logo on a red background and a pair of white logos on a blue background ? The blue banner is nicely done, I admit, but it is a, well, disorganized color scheme, and banners are so 1990s. Agricola 21:29, 20 September 2006 (CDT)
- This is gonna sound weird after my squawk about the Red Portals, but...I miss the red on the Main Page. It warmed it up some. Also, the gold in the box-headers is not the same as the gold in the big banner; it looks greenish. The banner-gold is nicer.
- As to the disorganized scheme...if the lettering on all headers (red and blue) were gold, that'd pull it together quite nicely! (Sez Marius, who was a printer and a graphic designer in a previous life) -- Marius Peregrinus 20:51, 1 March 2007 (CET)
- I think we should consider this a transitional state; what we want to do is get away from the "default mediawiki installation except the background is different" look.
- What I'd like to do, in the absence of any better suggestion, is mimic the look of the new Album Civium, where the blue banner spans the top of every page, and the page is entirely slightly-yellowed-paper below it. Wiki links (article, discussion, edit) would be banished to the bottom, and the sidebar would be either dismembered or put on the right.
