The Societas Via Romana ("Society of the Roman Way") is a "multicultural, creative and organic society that celebrates the legacy of the classical world." The SVR began Fl. Vedio (II) M. Cassio (II) cos. ‡ MMDCCLIV a.u.c. with an initial membership largely composed of Nova Roman citizens and former citizens, many of whom had been members of the amici dignitatis.
The SVR is composed of collegia devoted to exploring particular aspects of Roman and Mediterranean history, culture and daily life. It is administered by a board of three to seven Curatores and an informal Senate. Seven years after its founding, the Society continues to prosper, and there are a considerable number of Romans who are members of both organisations.
