Choosin a roman name

Hi - thanks for editing the page ES:Choosing_a_Roman_name. I notice that there's some formatting code showing up in the rendered version - things like 'edit' links, table of contents, etc.. It looks like you went to the English or French versions and copied what you saw onscreen.

There's a way to do this that will preserve the original formatting. When copying a page, if you go to the original page and then do "edit", its source code will appear in an edit box. Go to the box, select all with control-"A", then go to your new article and paste it in. This way the original formatting codes are preserved, such as headlines (double equals sign before and after headline text), lists, etc. This can save you a lot of time, especially for long articles.

You can remove the table of contents that came from the old article - once you start using headlines in the wiki style the table of contents will be automatically created.

Let me know if you need help with putting any of the formatting back in.

Biography

Salve M. Curiati! I see you've made a biography for yourself. Perhaps some time you'd like to re-format it using the this template, so that it looks something like this. - Cordus 11:25, 24 September 2006 (CDT)

Salve Corde

I hope now is all right.

citizen image

hi - I fixed your photo. The CIV-*.jpg images need to be exactly 150x150 pixels (as they often appear in grid layouts, which would break otherwise), so I've trimmed away the border and resized it to 150x150.

New article

The easiest way to create a new article is to put a link to it in some existing article:

[[My New Title Here]] My New Title Here

...save or preview, then click on the red article link which should take you to the editor with your new title.

There are some "getting started" files and guidelines under "Community Portal" at left.

Thanks for your help.

provincial page names

For all provincial pages, please start the article with "Provincia Hispania - ". Thus:

Edictum_Propraetoricium_X_de_Symbolorum_Provincialibus_Hispaniae_(Nova_Roma)

should be

Provincia Hispania - Edictum_Propraetoricium_X_de_Symbolorum_Provincialibus_Hispaniae_(Nova_Roma)

or to make it a bit smaller, remove the province name that's towards the end:

Provincia Hispania - Edictum_Propraetoricium_X_de_Symbolorum_(Nova_Roma)

deletion requests

Deletion is done. Also, a recommendation: when signing talk pages, use four tilde characters to sign your name: ~~~~ - this provides a link back to your own talk page for an easier response.

About Categories

Salve! Let's put Spanish articles in the ES: categories. For example, an English article might be in "Category:Archaeological sites in Rome". The Spanish article would be in "Category:ES:Archaeological sites in Rome". This will make it possible for people to navigate the site easily in any language by using the different categories. Agricola 11:53, 14 February 2008 (CET)

I have completely changed my thinking on this. The Category names should be in Spanish. You don't have to have a one to one match with the English categories, except at the very top of the tree. Agricola 11:21, 6 August 2008 (CEST)

Making the Language Bar links work

There is a small mistake with your procedure.

1. From the EN Forum of Augustus page, the LangBar will make ES:Forum of Augustus. 2. Make a stub there and save it. 3. Now move it to ES:Foro di Augusto. Do not move it to Foro di Augusto in the main namespace.

Please contact me if you have any questions. Agricola 12:12, 14 February 2008 (CET)

About categories per languages

Salve, amice!

Yes, I asked this on the NRwiki mailing list and M. Lucretius Agricola agreed to this. Let's put each page of each language in its respective language category. No matters that there is no translation, they can be translated even if they are in their respective category.

--Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus 19:26, 11 June 2008 (CEST)

Spaces in category titles

I would like to add to my previous comment that please avoid spaces after "ES:". So that no "Category:ES: Legiones" but "Category:ES:Legiones". This is the form. Thank you for your attention! --Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus 20:19, 11 June 2008 (CEST)

Categories

I agree completely about the categories problem. This is the reason that I have not updated the category language bar. As we go ahead, I think that each language will develop a somewhat different category structure. The key to success will be to recruit able page maintainers in each language who can do basic upkeep on categories. As a principle we will have to do category interlinking on a case by case basis, and also use tree navigation. Agricola 04:17, 10 July 2008 (CEST)
