Roman goddess of springs. The Camenae included Egeria, Carmentis, Antevorta and Postvorta. They were wise and could give prophesy through inspiration. Their place of worship was a lucus a sacred grove of Carmentis at the Port Capena near Roma They were later associated with the Muses. It was to this spring that the Vestal Virgins would come to draw water for their rites. August 13th was the day of their festival.
