This is one of the Nova Roma wiki help files.
Always follow the Fourfold Way:
The Fourfold way is the basic set of steps used for all edits.
Step 1. Click the edit tab to start making your edits.
Step 2. Enter a note in the edit Summary so others know what you have done. A summary might be as simple as "fix typos", "add links" or "add photo". Not leaving a summary is very bad form.
Step 3. Show preview to check your changes. If it isn't right, go back and do more editing. Every time you save, you create a version of the page that will be saved forever. Unnecessary saves create unnecessary load when backing up the database. Be kind to the server and preview before saving.
Step 4. When you have checked everything, click Save page.

Template basics
- Templates let us put things onto pages automatically.
- Templates are added by putting the template's name in {{double braces}}.
- One advantage of using templates is that a change to a template will change that template on every page that uses the template.
Templates to add standard text
Templates can be used to add standard text to an article. The text can be formatted and images can be included.
Example: If you type
{{ArticleStub}}
then the "boilerplate" for stub articles will be included in the article, like this:
This article is a stub. Can you help by expanding it?
Templates to add an article to a category
If a template includes a category tag (example: [[Category:NovaRoma]]) then any article that contains that template will be included in the category.
Templates can have variables
Values can be passed to templates. The syntax is like this:
{{TemplateName | VariableName=Value}}
Dates
See: Help file on using date templates
Laws
See NovaRoma:Legal system for all issues concerning the upkeep of laws in the Nova Roma website.
Macellum
Temples
- Template:Virtualtemple for virtual temples to the Dii Consentes
- Template:Virtualtemple-d-i for virtual temples to the Dii Inferni
Tables
Tables of various kinds of information.
- Template:Table Pontifices Current Pontifices.
Article formatting
Putting information on pages in a uniform way.
- Template:CitizenBox Put a picture of a citizen in a box, with links to bio and Album Civium pages.
Article protection
These templates are used by magistrates to protect pages:
