Auxilium Palatinum - Tervingi (Nova Roma)

The Nova Roman Auxilium Palatinum - Tervingi is an autonomous Nova Roman auxiliary reenactment unit of Provincia Thracia. The Auxilium Palatinum - Tervingi reenactment unit was founded by tribunus M. Servilius Gemellus Marsius in Cn. Lentulo Alexandro T. Domitio cos. ‡ MMDCCLXIX a.u.c.. The legio is incorporated as the association Dux Anticae in Bulgaria.

Dux Anticae is an association for historical reconstructions, founded in the town of Svishtov - the successor of the ancient Roman town of Novae. The activities of the association are focused on recreating important historical events that took place along the Danube Limes during the Late Antiquity (III-IV century).

Since its foundation in 2016, the association has been famous for its disciplined demonstrations of the iron system of the Roman auxiliary, composed of Gothic federates. In addition to warfare and equipment, the members of DVX ANTICAE (centurio, draconarius, vexillifer, optio, milites, sagittarii and craftsmen) present the lifestyle, crafts, cuisine, rituals and relationships of the world of the Great Migration.

The mission of the association is to create a tangible interest in the heritage of Late Antiquity and the cultural and historical sites associated with this period. The rich business card includes a number of participations as organizers and co-organizers of reconstructions, festivals and events in Bulgaria and abroad.

Command

The ceremonial supreme commanders of all legions within Nova Roma are the consules of Nova Roma, and the praetores are the vice-supreme commanders. The provincial ceremonial commander-in-chief of the Auxilium Palatinum - Tervingi, is the governor of Thracia, the legatus pro praetore A. Vitellius Celsus.

The actual commander of the Auxilium Palatinum - Tervingi is the tribunus tervingorum M. Servilius Gemellus Marsius, also styled in late Roman reenactment as dux, and he holds the military rank tribunus. Missions and operations of the legion are directed by the tribunus and his fellow officers.
