ELECTION MMDCCLXVI |
Tribunus Plebis |
Quintus Caecilius Metellus Pius Postumianus |
Q Caecilius Metellus Postumianus sends greetings to All!
Having considered it over the past several months, and in consideration of all that is involved in it, I come to you today to offer myself as a candidate for the post of Tribune of the Plebs. For this year, I previously declined the post, in light of both my then-current situation and the result of my personal auspices; both of these are now favourable to my taking on the responsibilities of the office.
Without spending a great deal of time on the subject, I can say unreservedly that I both meet the legal requirements of the position and have the knowledge of our laws and experience in our organisation to execute the duties of the office, and if so elected, will do all that can be done to see that our laws are upheld.
In my view, elections conducted by write-in are the most reflective of the will of the electorate, which is why I refrained from announcing myself to be formally listed on the ballot. Yet I am willing and able, and it would be my privilege and honour, to serve you as Tribune of the Plebs.
To that end, I ask for your votes. I ask for the opportunity to serve you as Tribune of the Plebs.
