The photos prompted some discussion of the refined techniques of Roman mosaic-making, which seem to have been preserved & continued by the mosaic craftsmen of Morocco. The benefits of locally grown nuts and herbs were discussed, including dandelions and dock. On the topic of virtues, the public virtues of Fides, Clementia and Concordia led to discussion of the current world political situation.

In Latin pronunciation was practised and a basic Q & A format was introduced. For History, books of interest were exchanged. Event: Provincial Meeting
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Citizens: Gnaeus Iulius Caesar, Gaius Vipsanius Agrippa, Quintus Suetonius Paulinus, Vibia Lucretia Camilla
Summary: This was a working lunch where Marcus Patronius Proculus had passed on his apologies for being unable to attend due to work commitments. The proposed provincial medal was discussed. The discussion covered in general terms the size, metal and design of the medal. Samples provided by the local mint were examined. Further discussions concerning the design will take place on the provincial list.

The possibility of a bid to host the North American Nova Roman convention that is being proposed was also mooted, but it was agreed that Western Canada in March maybe more than some citizens from other warmer provinces could tolerate. Additionally the burden of arranging it would fall on four people, which was an unrealistic expectation. It was agreed to defer a bid until such time as the citizen roll has increased to a point where there are sufficient volunteers.

A significant decision was made to proceed with an application for Oppidum status for Castellum Augustus (Edmonton), there being sufficient citizens living within the city limits to qualify, Gaius Vipsanius Agrippa being the primary applicant. This was fully endorsed by Gnaeus Iulius Caesar and all present. The necessary paperwork will be submitted to the Senate for consideration of the grant of this status.

The local recruitment strategy was set as being principally through existing citizen's contacts since this has the obvious potential to yiled fast results, with efforts continuing on the GO ROMAN! project. The timing of submission of the provincial report was also debated, together with the status of the provincial legion and pricing for a supplier to produce the provincial flag. Further discussion was held concerning the Nova Roman current affairs and news. More items from the Harpax webstore were purchased.
