NovaRoma:Admin Requests

From NovaRoma
Jump to: navigation, search

This is an area where you leave requests for the WikiMagisters. We'll watch this space regularly, and remove the requests once they are responded to.

Please make your requests in the following format:

My Title
Example - place the article name in doubled square brackets.

User:Example - if the request is for some change to your account, link to yourself as User:Your User Name.

Descriptive text: follow it with some text explaining what you want us to do.

Signature: end your request with four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (this will be replaced with your signature, that is, with your username and a date stamp).

Place new requests under this line. Don't remove anyone else's - just put yours after theirs.

Sodalitas Munerum List

Is there a reason why http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sodalitasmunerum/ is no longer listed as an official newsgroup of Sodalitas Munerum anymore? Lucius Vitellius Triarius 10:41, 18 March 2007 (CET)

It had been discussed on the Senate list recently that this group is overrun by spammers and has no admin. I'm not sure what the replacement list is. Marcus Octavius Gracchus(t) 17:59, 18 March 2007 (CET)

ParserFunctions

The ParserFunctions extension looks particularly useful (e.g., use it to calculate the next nundinum). One caveat is that there seems to be a conflict between ParserFunctions and Cite.php. Since Cite.php is not the only way to do citations, and since ParserFunctions adds useful things, I vote for ParserFunctions and wait on Cite.php. Agricola 02:09, 22 February 2007 (CET)

German pages

What about pages in german (or other)language? Is there a special format I have to follow?

Thanks for an answer. Best --Publius Flavius Barbatus 03:12, 27 April 2006 (CDT)

Pages in German would go in the "DE: namespace". For example, the German version of the page "Ager Publicus (Nova Roma)" would be "DE:Ager Publicus (Nova Roma)" If the title is not in Latin, for example, "FAQ", you would create the page (in the DE: namespace) with whatever the German title would be and also create "DE:FAQ", which would be a redirect page that points to the actual German page. M. Lucretius Agricola 05:59, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
Thanks for the answer. Is it helpfull and necessary - surely wise - to use the language bar for such a german page? --Publius Flavius Barbatus 06:24, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
Sorry, know I have found it : NovaRoma:Language Policies --Publius Flavius Barbatus 06:38, 27 April 2006 (CDT)

Additional Book Source

Special:Booksources - I'd like to have added to the list of booksources the University of Cincinnati Library. Its respective code would be: http://uclid.uc.edu/search/i?SEARCH=MAGICNUMBER

Please delete

DE:Dictatorship of MMDCCLII (Nova Roma). I switch it to correct title: DE:Diktatur von MMDCCLII (Nova Roma). --Publius Flavius Barbatus 04:23, 2 May 2006 (CDT)

We should not delete it. Because of the way the interlanguage links work, it should remain as a redirect from the English title to the German title. In summary, an English page with title "ABC" automatically has a link to "DE:ABC". Then DE:ABC has a redirect to "DE:DEF", which would be the page with the correct German title. Confusing maybe, but it really works! M. Lucretius Agricola 05:09, 2 May 2006 (CDT)
Okay, I understand --Publius Flavius Barbatus 09:26, 2 May 2006 (CDT)

Special:Newpages

Is there any possibilty to find new pages in other languages? In Special:Newpages I only found english versions --Publius Flavius Barbatus 06:56, 25 October 2006 (CDT)

I can probably fix this after the software upgrade (which will happen with the server move, after the elections are done). It will require going into the program for the wiki itself. Shouldn't be too difficult, though... Marcus Octavius Gracchus(t) 07:00, 25 October 2006 (CDT)
Thx, maybe a solution looks loke this one --Publius Flavius Barbatus 07:27, 25 October 2006 (CDT)

Page Deletion

Given the fact that new legislation has removed the ability for a pontifex to award an agnomen, rather than delete the foul up I originally made, I must instead request that the pages Gaius Equitius Cato Felix (Nova Roma) and Gaius Equitius Cato Felix(Nova Roma) be deleted. Gratias! Metellus 07:57, 15 November 2006 (CET)

done Agricola 13:49, 15 November 2006 (CET)

By mistake I have duplicated these pages:

http://www.novaroma.org/nr/ES:Gens_Minicia_%28Nova_Roma%29

http://www.novaroma.org/nr/Gens_Minicia_%28Nova_Roma%29

http://www.novaroma.org/nr/Gentes_%28Nova_Roma%29

How I can delete?

Magister?

After being away for a longer time, I've just seen, that I'm in the list of magisters. Is this correct??? Best --Publius Flavius Barbatus 13:24, 17 April 2007 (CEST)

Roman Calendar

I have found the following free script to have a dayly roman calendar in the web:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://bestlatin.net/js/romancal.php?encode=js"></script>

this could be interesting to put in the Main Page. You can see as works in http://www.bestlatin.net/js/index_romancal.htm

Pictures and privacy policy

In Columnae Herculis I (Nova Roma) are a lot of screenshots from Rome: Total War. In german Wikipedia this is not allowed, because of privacy policy: copyrighted material. Please have a look on it, that may be dangeroeus. --Publius Flavius Barbatus 15:12, 4 June 2007 (CEST)

The article wrote by Saturninus is strictly in connection with the game. The screenshots purpose is to illustrate game aspects. It's different if I will use screenshots from the game to illustrate an article about the roman attack of Ulpia Traiana.----Titus Iulius Sabinus 14:38, 10 June 2007 (CEST)

Translations

Most articles here start in the english version. Sometimes I - and others translate them in other languages. Changes in the english version may be unobserved, other articles are not really correct or incomplete. Is there an obligation to translate word-by-word or may the german article differs from english or spanish one? It may be wise to check other versions, to see, what is the best one ... --Publius Flavius Barbatus 11:08, 26 June 2007 (CEST)

I'm sorry your question was missed. I think that differences are OK. In time, all articles will grow and I hope they will add to each other. An exception is that a few very important articles should always match. For example, Nova Roma. Agricola 07:34, 8 March 2008 (CET)
