Proposal Results

ITEM I - DRAFT SENATUS CONSULTUM DE PROROGATIONE ET DE RELATIONE PRAESIDUM PROVINCIARUM

Uti rogas / censeo / consentio = 13 = GCCB, QAN, GVM, ATS, GCL, SLT, GPD, MACI, FVG, AIP, MHMFF, PACP, MCMT

  • Comments:

Antiquo = 2 = DAI, TDD

  • Comments:
DAI: It appears my pleas to correct and fix this unfinished proposal were ignored. I cannot approve this legislation in good faith. I do not object to the governors being prorogued but the legislation as it stands will pollute the already complex landscape surrounding the provinces and the products we receive from governors.
TDD: For the same reasons my colleague, Senator Aurelius Ingeniarius, brings up.

Abstineo = 1 = GPST

  • Comments:
GPST: I believe D Aurelius Ingeniarius raised some important points that are worth considering. I therefore cannot actively approve this legislation, but am accepting that will be passed in the majority by others. Like Ingeniarius I do not object to the governors being prorogued, but am concerned that the legislation as written will only confuse an already complex landscape surrounding the provinces and their governance.

ITEM II - DRAFT SENATUS CONSULTUM DE SENTENTIA IN PROPRIA PERSONA DICENDA

Uti rogas / censeo / consentio = 12 = GCCB, QAN, GVM, ATS, DAI, GCL, MACI, FVG, MHMFF, PACP, GPST, TDD

  • Comments:
DAI: In today’s modern age of digital meetings and voting, just as we do now in this forum, the concept of a proxy vote is outdated and redundant. If our honorable members are concerned about the rapidly called sessions that occur with little warning, then we should collectively work on fixing the senate culture we’ve seen the last few years that produces these rapid last-minute meetings.
GPST: I agree with D Aurelius Ingeniarius that in today’s modern age of digital meetings and voting, just as we do now in this forum, the concept of a proxy vote is outdated and redundant. If a senator is unable or unwilling to attend successive meetings of the curia over many years then they should consider standing down from this august body and allow another, more active citizen, to take their place. In regards the rapidly called sessions that occur with little warning, as consul I will endeavour to ensure that these are called much earlier and in a timely fashion allowing for the maximum period of debate.
TDD: I am entirely in support of this measure. While I would have no issue with temporary proxy voting, lasting no more than a month or two in cases of emergencies, that's never been how it functions in Nova Roma. A Senator either has time to participate in these (figurative) hallowed halls or they do not.
ATS: I am, however, open to a modification allowing proxy voting once a year for emergencies or other unusual circumstances.

ITEM III - DRAFT SENATUS CONSULTUM DE PECUNIA PUBLICA CASTRIS OVO DANDA

Uti rogas / censeo / consentio = 16 = GCCB, QAN, GVM, ATS, DAI, GCL, SLT, GPD, MACI, FVG, AIP, MHMFF, PACP, GPST, MCMT, TDD

  • Comments:
GPST: As an interested party, I thought I should perhaps abstain from this vote. However, I feel that this project, into which many of my colleagues have invested so much time, money, blood, sweat and tears, is very important to the furtherance of Nova Roma as a movement, that I felt duty-bound to cast my vote in favour of this proposal.
TDD: Nova Roma should, in fact, be seeking to do similar across all of its provinces. Let us use this as a test case. I do hope for regular progress reports.
DAI: We must invest to make gains. Let’s see how this goes and we can use this as a benchmark for future proposals.

ITEM IV - DRAFT SENATUS CONSULTUM DE COMMISSIONIBUS SENATUS

Uti rogas / censeo / consentio = 13 = GCCB, QAN, GVM, ATS, GCL, SLT, GPD, MACI, FVG, AIP, MHMFF, PACP, MCMT

  • Comments:
ATS: However, I think that the Senate Preparation Committee should also go on the block.

Antiquo = 3 = DAI, GPST, TDD

  • Comments:
DAI: There is no need for a “Senate Preparation Committee” along with all the other outdated committees being removed. This is bureaucratic excess. All these committees should be removed. If a magistrate needs assistance to prepare for a senate session, then let them appoint an apparitor. Let us heed the warning our Princeps Senatus, in that, what is being proposed erodes at the fabric our senate proceedings. I stand for all the committees to be removed.
GPST: I agree with D Aurelius Ingeniarius that what is being proposed erodes the fabric of our senate proceedings, and I would rather abolish all such committees and that, if a magistrate needs assistance to prepare for a senate session, then they can appoint an apparitor.
TDD: Dissolve all the committees.

ITEM V - DRAFT SENATUS CONSULTUM DE PRAEMIO SENATORIO TI. IULII NERVAE

Uti rogas / censeo / consentio = 16 = GCCB, QAN, GVM, ATS, DAI, GCL, SLT, GPD, MACI, FVG, AIP, MHMFF, PACP, GPST, MCMT, TDD

  • Comments:
TDD: Well deserved, though I make one suggestion to him: Find more multinational moderators. Some of the things that get posted... Well, there are reasons I'm not quite as active on Facebook as I was. Too much false history being spread. Be it nationalism, racial superiority, or just insanity (see Tartaria).
DAI: Ti. Iulius Nerva is a passionate and patriotic citizen if I ever saw one. The fact that he has grown this social media platform to such a size and unites it under Nova Roma is very worthy of recognition. I easily and gladly support this proposal.

  • Comments:
GPST: I, too, believe that it is good to honor those that have given so much to the creation and maintenance of our Commonwealth.
TDD: Well deserved.
DAI: It is good to honor those that have given so much to the foundations of our Republic.

  • Comments:
ATS: I commend the others, but unlike a certain pair of dictators, cannot vote to award such things to myself.

Uti rogas / censeo / consentio = 14 = GCCB, QAN, GVM, DAI, GCL, SLT, GPD, MACI, FVG, AIP, PACP, GPST, MCMT, TDD

  • Comments:
TDD: Absolutely. I'm praying for her recovery and that she be free of pain from this dreadful disease that afflicts far too many.
DAI: Our Republic already wavers with the news of A. Tullia Scholastica’s health. May she be granted all the strength to be mustered in this time.

  • Comments:
GPST: This is a well-meaning gesture, and I have no hesitation in supporting it.
TDD: Hear, hear! A well-deserved honor.
DAI: This is a great gesture and is supported. She is a critical element to our Republic.

  • Comments:
GPST: I would applaud these latest graduates, which have further strengthened the fabric of our Commonwealth. I , too, would therefore offer my congratulations to our new sacerdotes.
TDD: Can't do it for one and not others!
ATS: Those who have passed this difficult examination certainly deserve some rewards and recognition of their achievements.
DAI: The success of our revived camillus program is bringing us much hope. With the latest graduates, we grow stronger. Congratulations to our new sacerdotes.
